Hi there,

I recently sold an Omega Speedmaster Apollo 11 45th anniversary in new old stock condition via Chrono24.

The watch reached its buyer safe and sound yesterday around noon. The buyer is not entirely convinced that i shipped him a genuine watch. I am going to post an imgur link with pictures of the actual watch in question, which can be verified by the buyer. As you will see, the watch came as a full set with all box and papers.

If it isn’t too much trouble I’d ask the experienced users over here to verify, that the pictures show in fact a genuine speedmaster apollo 11 45th. As far as i am informed there are no high quality fakes of this model around, especially not with box and papers.

The buyer asked for a verification at a official omega boutique, which however refused to give out an official written authentication letter

Since this was a private chrono24 sale the buyer has to confirm that the item was received in good working order before i can get my money. It is an expensive watch and naturally i want this settled asap.

Thank you

This is the watch:

Assuming pictures are of the actual watch, it's genuine.

I'd ask the buyer to ship the watch back at his expense and you will issue a full refund. Then tell him to never buy any product outside of Authorized Dealers ever again.

So, did he go to a boutique and let it have checked? It's not quite clear from your text. If he went but didn't want to disclose what the AD said, then I am not sure what game he's playing.

I think the buyer is suspicious and no word that comes from you could convince him otherwise. So why try to appease him? If you have sold an authentic watch, then there is nothing for you to worry about.

If he truly wants peace of mind then let him go to an Omega boutique.

Yes the OP stated the boutique would not provide a letter of authenticity. I don’t know how that works at boutiques but usually a decent watchmaker who has worked on omega etc will give you a thumbs up if you request. Watch looks fine to me but I’m just a dude don’t think the buyer will care

Yeah, you are right. I totally misread that while quickly glancing over the text.

According to the buyer the boutique wont give out an official authentication but rather send it to one of its hqs for further inspection. Don’t ask me why, but around here ADs are kinda reluctant to even give a „thumbs up“

Send him a prepaid label to ship the watch to you, when you receive it issue a refund.
Sounds like a good set up for you to get scammed out of your watch.
This buyer wont be satisfied with what is said in a forum especially based off that pic.
I doubt anyone will say with 100% certainty this is real based of that lone pic, no pic of movement etc.

Can the buyer ask the boutique to open the back of the watch and verify the watch ID against the number on the cards?

What for? The serial number is engraved on the lug. The Limited Edition number is engraved on the caseback . Both numbers match the paperwork

I think that it's better to see the number on the movement, It should be the same process to get an extract.

Have the buyer send it back and refund their money minus shipping. This is a headache you don't want

This is a new old stock watch, still sealed and stickered. With all due respect but matching numbers, box set and stickers should be enough to authenticate this watch

The buyer has changed his mind, no point going any further regardless of what reason he uses. Accept the return and sell it elsewhere I am afraid.

LOL you are here trying to convince us, its your buyer you need to convince not us.
As I said before send him a prepaid label to ship the watch to you, when you receive it issue a refund.
If you let him get the label and their is an insurance claim insurance will pay him...
That becomes a whole new headache.
If he fights you Chrono24 will likely side with him, they aren't as bad as eBay but they still usually side with buyer.

It seems like you are being difficult and challenging the group. You asked for help and we can only do so much. We are just people on another side of a computer screen. At this point:

Get the watch back. Move on.
