·Hello, I have been going through this forum for a few days looking for information about a watch but I haven´t been very successful, That's why I have decided to make a post (even though I´ve learned many members are not big fans of this) and see if anybody can help me with any information about this watch.
What I know is that it belonged to my grandad, I liked it a lot as a child and when he died around 25 years ago my grandmother gave it to me. I´ve never worn the watch, but I know it was a gift from my grandmum to my grandad and that before he died she had the strap replaced because it was worn out (the strap in the picture is the new one) so I guess that could mean it´s from the 70s?
I´ve seen a few very similar Seamasters here and on the internet but they all have some inscription in the dial and this one only says Omega on top and Swiss made on the bottom (which is very difficult to see and makes me think it could be from another watch). The Omega logo is made of metal I think.
The back cover of the watch has been replaced by one with an inscription of my grandad´s initials so I get no information from there, I know that there might be more information inside the watch and I´ve looked at some videos on how to open it but the back cover (I think it´s pressure fit) doesn´t seem to have any indentation to apply pressure so I´m afraid I might break it if I try.
The watch has to be manually winded and works but stops every now and then and continues working if I tap on the cristal.
This is all the information I have about the watch. I´d really appreciate it if you could tell me anything about it, for example what model it is or if you think it´s a redial or fake or something or any tips on where or how to have it fixed (not asking for specific shops of course, I live in uruguay).
I'd really like to wear it now that I am of "appropriate age" and I wouldn't really mind if it´s fake or something like that but I would like to know a bit about it. My grandad was a teacher and I´m also a teacher so I think wearing it would be nice.
I've attached some pictures
Thanks in advance,
Darío
