Did the Gen 2 Planet ocean have solid white gold hands?

I understand the 3rd gen does but surprised it’s unmentioned on the website.

Interested to know which Generations have this?

I have never seen official proof that any stainless steel PO model of any generation has white gold on any part of it.

Considering that the hands will be rhodium-plated regardless of the base metal and so won’t appear visually different, why does it matter?

PO deep black (ceramic case) has 18k white gold indexes.
"Gold hands on steel PO" is an urban legend forged on WUS, actually in the same thread someone has posted a reply from Omega where Omega has explained that hands are rhodium-plated bronze.
This nonsense has started after the launch of Aqua Terra 8500 "Skyfall", this watch indeed has white gold hands and applied indexes. Somehow, people has extended these features on PO 8500 too🤦

Who told you PO 3rd gen has solid white gold hands?

I think Omega would advertise white gold hands/indices on any watch. For what it's worth, I've heard Tim Mosso say that the 3rd gen PO has white gold.

I have heard Tim Mosso a lot of times say things that are wrong... I even corrected him in some of his videos and he replied.

The hands are rhodium plated - not made of white gold. Yet another "watch reviewer" piece of misinformation debunked...take the information given on all these sites with a large grain of salt.

Considering rhodium is rarer than gold and currently priced north of $28,000 an ounce, I think it’s pretty luxurious.

Gold is only special because people think it is special. Like diamonds. Give me a natural sapphire or ruby any day over a diamond.

Ok, that probably explains why "gold" was not mentioned on the official website😉

Plating is the issue. £1300 quartz Aquaracers do Rhodium Plating.

At current PO price point solid White gold is arguably much more appropriate and definitely a step up on Plating of any precious metal.

When you send the watch to the factory for service, the hands are replaced each service. If these were solid gold, the price of servicing would go up with no real tangible benefit. Honestly I think this is the first time I've seen someone make an issue of it...but we are al different I guess.

And all white gold is also plated - the shininess is no different if white gold is the base or steel.

it’s just a perception that gold is “better” and more luxurious. It’s why a solid gold watch sells for $20-30,000 more than the steel model, even though there is less than $4000 of gold in it. And why suckers buy them.

Well, that's nonsense. They would get replaced too.

Sure, but wouldn’t Omega (or Rolex or any other manufacturer) be able to “recycle” the white gold from old hands or indices?

Why ? I’m keen to work out where the nonsense lies

Because it's standard practice for brands to replace hands at service. Most brands don't have trained watchmakers removing the hands when the watch comes in - this stage of disassembly is typically done by people hired off the street and are given some on the job training, so this can lead to damage. In a service center time is at a premium, so even having to take the time to check at the hands to see if they need replacing is too much time, so new hands are installed automatically.
