About 35 years ago, a staff member in the jewellery store I managed, had a Gerber Legendary carving knife pulled on her. The doped up girl wanted the contents of the till, but my staffer told her the till couldn’t be opened unless a purchase was made. She offered the contents of her purse which was in a staff area. She came back for her purse, and I inferred from what she said, what was happening. I followed her onto the sales floor, walked up to the bimbo, and took the knife away from her! When the gendarmes got there and I told them what i’d done, they advised to never be so foolish ever again. It took three burly officers to hand cuff her.

I had a friend who was a knife collector get mugged in San Francisco leaving an ATM on a busy street. The guy pulled a knife up close and demanded his wallet. Without blinking he grabbed the knife by the blade, (he had a palm technique which I would slice my hand trying to replicate) twisted it and the guy let go. My friend offered it back to him by the heel and asked if he wanted to try it again- the mugger ran.
I don’t know if I could be that cool in a situation like that.

In the instance that I recalled above, I grabbed the left wrist with my right hand, wrapped my left arm around her and grabbed the right wrist with my left hand so she couldn’t swap hands, and told the staffer to take the knife away. She did, and got a tiny nick on a thumb. Then I booted this bimbo and dumped her on the floor, and landed my 6’ 4”, 225 pound frame on top of her and held her till the gendarmes got there. My staff told me I shoulda had my way with her while I was on top of her. Yuck!
