Speaking of when a watch costs a lot of money, how about a buy it now for 9K and they want $6 for shipping? If you are going to worry about shipping after a $9000 sale, I would rather pay $50 for shipping and have them pack it in a new box with $5 of bubble wrap and insure it! I knew I had more peeves. LOL. I am a grumpy old man.

a NATO strap on a dress watch...

Yes to this.

Another one is seller stating unpolished case when it is clearly not.

"Beautiful", "attractive", "pleasant" or any other subjective opinion when applied to "patina". Give me decent pictures and I'll decide for myself according to my personal aesthetic values. Also related to "patina", don't piss on my boots and tell me it's raining, sometimes fubar is just fubar 😒

Rare.........really? In reality 95% of the time it’s just a word to pad out a sellers description on eBay.

Example, they don’t know what they’re selling - so let’s add “rare” in.

How about “recently serviced “ or “running at COSC spec”?

1. Calling a dial a watch "face"
2. Ending the title of a sale listing with "WOW!"
3. As was said earlier, calling a dial "original" despite being refinished

Or indeed anything ending with an exclamation mark. Watch related or otherwise.

Well assuming it's legit and as a vintage lover I have no problem about this at all

I think you may have missed the subtle dig at what I call "millennial" grammar. Which incidentally is a HUGE pet peeve of mine.. 🤬

Uh Oh! I resemble that remark! I love a bit of overuse of punctuation to get my point across. How about this? If you steer clear of italics, I’ll knock exclamation marks on the head? 👍

Pretty much all of the above plus my personal:

Adds by sellers that clutter up my auto searches using titles for their watch to get more "range" like:

Title: "Nice *POS noname brand* Chrono (NO ROLEX/OMEGA/HUBLOT/IWC/BREITLING)"

Seriously, just list it for what it is damn it! The chances of someone searching for a watch from a top tier manufacturer suddenly thinking
"Oh well that's a nice POS watch from China! Why not!" when encountering an add like this are zero to none.

Edit:

Unclear/out of focus pictures or just one Picture

Sellers (even worse when they are professionals) with watches worth a couple thousands unable to take ONE clear picture!

I get it if some non WIS is selling his 300$ Watch and just took 2-3 out of focus phone snaps, but if you are asking anything over a grand let alone a multitude of that, take clear pictures!
I don't care if a bargain find may slip through my fingers because of this.
Those sellers are not worth my time/money/or eyesight!

Referring to the new Railmaster LE as the 60th Anniversary Railmaster. It’s not.

Adding a period to a 165014 Vintage Seamaster 300.

Huh? Sorry man, you've lost me. When exactly did I pull you up about misuse or otherwise of exclamation marks? I was responding to someone else's post.. 👎

This ^

1 in 20 of all used watches on eBay are rare.
