I think it all depends where you're going to wear it! If it is a dress watch then I'm not certain Id like that extent of deterioration/patina.

That being said I quite like the OP watch - but it depends how it looks on the wrist - close up I don't think I like it - from a distance i think it looks great.

That tiger's eye 1601 (or maybe older, with the hands) is AWESOME!

1601 is correct! I really love the alpha hands as well. I also haven't ever seen a dial age in this way.

This one’s a Longines:

Definitely jumps way over the line. When you can’t read the dial AT ALL, we’re not talkin’ patina anymore. In my opinion.

I like a bit of patina but think the word gets misused by some trying to sell damaged goods 😉

I've found patina usually equals a cheaper watch in monetary terms. Enjoyment factor is up to ones taste, though I will happily wear patinaed pieces like these:

Fellow patina lovers - where do you draw the line? That fine line between the amazing beauty that is natural age and a dial that has crossed over into undesirable? Example, looking at this piece and it's really right on the line for me. One minute, VERY unique, the next minute not so much...
If you're only into pristine vintage, I appreciate that but no need to weigh in. Fellow patina lovers - thoughts please!

I have one just like this in Rolex with more bright yellow. I can't tell if the dial changed from white to yellow or yellow to white.
To me it looks great. But I'm also torn between if this is patina or damaged. Rest of watch is in perfect condition. oyster perpetual.
