I still think the E39 M5 is the best looking M5 ever (at least so far). I would love one personally - there is a guy with a blue DINAN version that is at the dealer sometimes when I am there, but I don't think he will ever sell it.

I kinda miss my E39 540:

Even though it was the BMW I've owned (out of 8 so far) that gave me the most trouble, it was nice. Electrical gremlins, so went through several LCM's, one complete instrument cluster replacement, 3 yaw sensors failed, and 1 camshaft position sensor failed (that will leave you dead on the side of the road - the only time a BMW has done that to me). All under warranty, so when the warranty was up, I traded it on my first Z4 - the 3.0 version so the M came later...

A couple of my buddies are trying to convince me to buy this car:

I used to have an E34 530 with the 3 litre V8 engine, so I do like this body style...but I'll stick with my little 128 for now:

It's a great little car - feels like what the 3 series used to be like in the good old days! Not that I can drive it right now - not for another few weeks...

Cheers, Al

Mate we've still got two E34s in the family, one 525i auto my 23 year old sister drives and loves to death (she makes fun of her boyfriend for owning a 4 cylinder chicks car) and a 525i 5 speed manual with 4.11 diff for towing boats. Between those two cars they have over 750,000 KM on them, nearly the distance to the moon and back and neither ever have problems. My E46 on the other hand has 140,000 KM on it and now needs a new rear subframe and floor welded in after it tore itself out.

Those 3.8 M5s are a very special car, we never got them in Australia, only the 3.6, but even they seem to be going up in value these days. Last of the hand built cars and engine aside every part on it is cheap as chips to find spares for.

Stuart-I wish you sold that 6B to me so it could have spent time with its black dial mate in my collection
