A whole new ballgame when four wheels are involved.
In my case a beautiful silver M5 as two major customers went down on me and it was a case of batten down the hatches 🙁

I bought back the SM300 that I sold and regretted. Here is a 1961 BMW R50/2 I did a nut and bolt restoration on a couple years ago, I sold it last year because I wasn't riding it. Still kicking myself.

I regret not keeping this version of me

The rest are not of my actual former possessions but are identical to what I owned. I didn't have a decent camera until my kids were a little older.

My first pistol, a WWII Model 1911 made by Singer. (Google Singer 1911's.)
[EDIT] I should mention that I bought this for $200 or so, and sold it for about the same.
This was pre-internet (as was everything else in this post) and collectability was about
the last thing on my mind. It could be a fake, but I owned it from about '83 - '88? [EDIT]

Too choked up to say anything

A non-maxima 810 wagon with a 5-speed and L24E

1964 Campmobile

Colt Ace kit used on th 1911.

I've probably posted all these before. I MISS THEM JUST THAT MUCH.

My brother has and loves an E39 M5 that he bought brand new (traded in his 911 that was less than a year old), but it has ghosts in the electrical system (since 4 seconds after his extended warranty expired) that makes it unsuitable as anything other than an occasional toy.

Yeah, I've watched the westfalia prices with much wailing and gnashing of teeth. I didn't have the original engine in mine, which I presume would have affected the collectability at some point, but the engine I put in was a monster. ("Monster" by VW standards o'course.) I sold it to a guy who had just gotten out of prison. When he came to pick it up I told him that I had to go look for the key and he said "Don't bother, it will only take me a minute to make one". I didn't ask but it's possible he was a car thief. The $300 he paid me was hard cash though.

I still think the E39 M5 is the best looking M5 ever (at least so far). I would love one personally - there is a guy with a blue DINAN version that is at the dealer sometimes when I am there, but I don't think he will ever sell it.

I kinda miss my E39 540:

Even though it was the BMW I've owned (out of 8 so far) that gave me the most trouble, it was nice. Electrical gremlins, so went through several LCM's, one complete instrument cluster replacement, 3 yaw sensors failed, and 1 camshaft position sensor failed (that will leave you dead on the side of the road - the only time a BMW has done that to me). All under warranty, so when the warranty was up, I traded it on my first Z4 - the 3.0 version so the M came later...

A couple of my buddies are trying to convince me to buy this car:

http://www.kijiji.ca/v-cars-trucks/...bmw-m5-euro-spec-3-8l-s38b38-sedan/1017259420

I used to have an E34 530 with the 3 litre V8 engine, so I do like this body style...but I'll stick with my little 128 for now:

It's a great little car - feels like what the 3 series used to be like in the good old days! Not that I can drive it right now - not for another few weeks...

Cheers, Al

I'm not a BMW guy, but IMHO E39 is the best looking bimmer ever. (Hmm E31 850 is close though.)

My first car was a '65 spitfire, actually sort of a chick magnet which almost balanced out my chick-repulsion-field. But I wanted a Mustang or Camaro and my across the street neighbor had a 68 mustang in excellent condition but it had been read-ended, in their opinion was not worth fixing even though it was perfectly drivable, and they offered it to me for $100. I thought about it and ultimately decided I wanted a camaro, but regretted not buying the 'stang for the next 30 years. Said neighbor also had a '67 convertible with a 390 and a four-speed, which I WOULD have taken for $100 in a heartbeat, but. Oh well. My first camaro (I had a few, all '69s) was a solid, reliable car and served me well.

Youngest daughter started nipping my ears again today as to why I parted with this piece, her favourite.
Almost wish I hadn't, at least it would stop her moaning 🙁

Great looking bike - I'm actually on the hunt for a R60/2.
