Saving electricity after dark doesn鈥檛 really do much. That鈥檚 when there鈥檚 a lot to spare.

Interesting lock picking video, but these days thugs just walk in during business hours, load up on what they want and walk out, they know they won't be prosecuted in many larger US cities. I have deadbolt locks on my outside doors, keyed on both sides so a burglar can't break the door window, reach in and turn the deadbolt knob. All he'll find is a keyed opening, just like the outside. Offers a little bit more protection than the standard inside knob. A dedicated burglar can always find a way to get in, but most will go somewhere else if the effort is too high.

I witnessed one of these grab and goes at a out of the way supermarket In a pretty rural town with little crime that I know of. Four ladies just ransacked the place filling their shopping carts with expensive meats and seafoods. An suv was parked outside and they very skillfully emptied four carts into the back and made a getaway while people stood around filming them. Now every time I go a cop car is parked in front of the store. That along with inflation just makes stuff more expensive for those of us who pay.

I hope this video link works. You may need a subscription to NYT. But I have a few screenshots below and have tried to copy the article to photos.

I thought it looked cool to see the Rolex boutique in the main photo and am looking forward to some funny OF replies.

While I admire parkour, I consider these "social activists" to be nothing more than punks and vandals.

I imagine that if they spend their nights at this activity, their days are spent asleep, so their money may not necessarily come from hard work!

I think it鈥檚 great to take action in a non violent way.
The fact the stores are violating the law would not justify breaking rules for redress but I don鈥檛 see how they鈥檇 be infringe any rule. Those switches are there to be used and the street is a public place.

If nothing is vandalized I suppose it's harmless enough. But there must be many of these installations where there is no external switch, then what? Do they just go away or do they damage the light? Bottom line, it's all virtue signaling with zero effect.
