I felt bad for blocking ads after a while, and paid for Tier 1. I realized that I spend more time reading here than any other subscription I pay for on a monthly basis. YouTube premium, Netflix, and many others you don't want to know. I also think the forum saves me from making stupid purchase decisions (although there's a whole another side that makes me buy more), so I convinced myself that the subscription already paid for itself for a few years.

YES, What this guy said 100%. I subbed soon after joining and realizing it was well worth it.

Thank you for the quick feedback as I read How I can get a New Metal Roof in 1 day and how to save on my Car Insurance , and a Nyquil commercial 😀
Or you can install the AdBlocker Plus extension and get on with bitching about something else.

Just switch to Brave browser. Blocks pretty much everything by default and faster than Chrome. You’re welcome.

I love me some Brave browser, especially all the free BAT. Every now and then it loses the ability to process DNS for some reason, so I switch to something else.

No Ads!!!!!
*and no tracking....
Ok guys- here comes the shaming!

You are hanging out in a bar- you are enjoying the conversation, the free stale nuts on the bar, going after the free happy hour wings & finger foods and are only ordering water.
Who do you think is keeping the lights on, keeping the heat on, stocking the toilet paper, wresting your turd out of the shitter when you snuck in there and clogged it…wow, just wow.

If you aren’t going to subscribe for the fυcking $50 which is less that a damn strap, then at least let them get some revenue from the ads.

Damn, does JDubs get a commission? 😁 Don’t take it personally. I’ve indiscriminately blocked ads since ad blocking was a thing. I hate ads so much I will intentionally not buy some shit if I see an ad, never mind give them a conversion.

No commission, but it do empathize with how much work and money it takes to keep a dynamic platform like this going and we all benefit from the largess of the few that are footing the bill.

My late mother would be pleased to know someone else is delivering the guilt. (Done.)

I just realized my subscription had expired, hence the ads popping up again on my mobile. Just fixed that, and set auto-renew option so I don't have to be bothered with ads returning next year. And for a paltry 27.4 cents a day, it's a frikin steal!

More than happy to support the hard work that is put in to keeping this community running so we can all learn, be part of a community of motley gang of misfit nerds, and drool over pictures of watches. Thanks Mods for everything you do!

I also like to support “free” services that I benefit from and I do appreciate the people who put real time and money into making this happen. I almost upgraded awhile back but I’ve only been here a minute and it felt like things were moving too fast 😜. Plus, I wasn’t even sure if I liked you guys… still not sure actually. 😝

Appreciate the guys subscribing, pop-up ads shouldn’t be happening, I was not aware of us running any so if you have screenshots of that I’ll talk to the agency we use about it. I would prefer not to have to run ads but our expenses just kept going up while in recent months since the US economy dipped into negative growth around mid-2022, companies cut back on their ad spend massively while our hosting provider upped our costs due to inflation which led to us having to adjust by increasing density around that time.

The approach we’ve taken to try to mitigate that is adding the stories section (http://stories.omegaforums.net/) and trying to build more diverse traffic, so that we can eventually spread the burden across that and reduce it on the forum but its a slow road and we don’t yet meet the minimum requirements.

@Trev is also working on the next version of the forum which is a bit smarter in how it handles ads so we should hopefully be able to do more with less eventually there.

Thanks Ash for all you guys do. If you guys finally do a Bulova sub, I’ll throw y’all another $50
