·I took the plunge and purchased a Speedmaster Professional - 3590.50 - with serial starting in 4839 which puts it at 1998-1999 (EDITED). I know how defining what’s vintage can be tricky at sometimes but I assume 20 years old is about right.
I’m thrilled with the purchase, got it from eLady on sale for $2600. No tax, no shipping fee, no customs fee, and delivered in 5 days Japan to the US. I’m pleased with the price as it’s what I could afford for what I wanted.
1498 bracelet came sized for an 8” wrist so I now have 6 spare links since my wrist is only 6.8”.
I’d have to say, after wearing a 1999 Reduced with 1469 bracelet it came with, I kinda miss that bracelet. I liked the profile of the links. Is there another bracelet that is appropriate to this reference but with more of a D shaped link profile similar to a 1469?
I assumed it’s a service dial but if anyone can confirm, much appreciated.
I haven’t popped the caseback off yet to check on the last service date because I’m having trouble getting it off my wrist - figuratively, not literally. Maybe later tonite.
Looking forward to wearing this one and in the future passing it on to my son.
Thanks for looking!
