I can't believe I waited this long, what a cracking watch. I bought the new 005 (hesalite) model, which I know some say is expensive, and partly paying for a useless box, but I got it at a very good price from a non-authorised dealer (I can live without the AD £500+ cup of tea!), and the box of goodies does add a bit to the experience. I do think this watch is good value regardless, compared to most other luxury watches anyway. I'm really pleased I went for the hesalite version - the dial is surprisingly clear as a result, although I don't really notice the often talked about "attractive" distortion (which seems about the same as a sapphire box crystal to me). It's well built and nicely finished, fits me beautifully in my opinion and is super comfortable as a result, and so far at least keeps really good time (+5 s/d).

(Sorry if this many photos is frowned upon here!)

Welcome to the club. I doubt anyone here thinks the Speedy Pro is overpriced vs its competitors.

Yup! The only time you will see OF members complain about pictures is when there are none.

Welcome to the club indeed! My speedy also says hi! The box presentation is nice but I could have done without it.

First time I got this watch, it actually felt surprisingly light. Thought it would have more heft.

That's a beautiful watch for sure. Nobody would ever regret choosing such an absolute classic.

I've only ever purchased used vintage watches, so I am curious to know about purchasing new Omegas from non authorised dealers and whether anything changes apart from the price. I have found a website for a watch broker in London and just like the original poster mentioned the price was around £500 less than well known high street stores selling Omega watches.

AndyGarton, if you don't mind me asking what kind of camera and lens are you using for your Macro pictures? Awesome pics! And have you decided with which strap you will wear the watch?

Thanks for the warm welcome everybody!

The macros were taken with an iPhone 7 Plus with OlloClip macro lens attachment.

Strap wise the sky is the limit! I like the bracelet but it will no doubt sit on a brown vintage leather at times as well.

I bought the watch from Iconic Watches in the U.K.

I actually got it for significantly more than £500 off the RRP. I expect in an AD you could get something of a discount, but nothing like that from a "non-authorized" dealer unless you're very lucky. As far as I know nothing else really changes - the warranty is still valid certainly. In theory of course the watch isn't brand new - the "grey" dealer bought it from an AD in the first place, but unworn with all stickers in place is easily good enough for me bearing in mind the significant saving.

This was the place I found and I just wasn't sure if this would be an Omega warranty or something else http://www.heritagewatches.co.uk/collections/omega-speedmaster

I agree it's not really a big deal if the watch was sold from one dealer to another, but remains unworn and with full warranty and all the correct paperwork.
