Mothra
路Thought I'd share my experience over time having signed up to a project watch on another forum. Basically I'm already regretting straying from the oasis of calm that is omega forums.
The 'project' is undefined at the moment, other than coming from a german watchmaker mostly well known for well priced homage watches - there are 111 people currently on the list for a watch and a waiting list. There's been one vote so far, which was fairly painless and was for a homage vs original design - the group voted something like 82% for original. Everything else remains to be discussed and voted on.
The guys running the project seem to know what they are doing and seem switched on and organised. however, things have strayed from my expectations with the second vote, which is for budget. There are four categories, from modest (up to 500 euros) to unlimited (over 1000 euros), and out of 200 posts discussing it, 40% have come from two individuals relentlessly presenting their case for an unlimited budget on the basis that this will not exclude any design choices they may want to make and they frequently suggest that if they have to go over budget by a mere 2-300 euros this lets them do so.
When the number of posts they had made was pointed out to them their response was 'yeah, and I'm proud of that'...
If I look ahead to two years of discussions where these guys drive to get 'their' decisions for 'their' watch, I just immediately feel exhausted. Anyone done a project watch before, is this typical? Right now I'm thinking about withdrawing....
