3835 case & dial with (wildly) incorrect movement potentially available as a restoration project;

Don't know the history or story behind it, but I'm supposing moisture incursion that discoloured the dial & rusted out the movement, originally a 23-300 would be guessing.

Which was a problem some bright spark decided to then solve by (shield your eyes) this;

So what do folks think?

Is that dial too far gone to be worth preserving?

Or is marrying up this case & dial with an orphan 23-300 worth more than the sum of the parts?

Restoration would be a money pit, even if you could find a 23-300.

The dial and hands kill it, so unfortunately I think it will be consigned to the smelter.
