Sold my last 2 Rolexes, with a certain amount of relief (and profit, though that wasn't the intent) over the last couple of months. Time to move on to summer pastures, might be done with the Big R. Recently picked up a Longines VHP-GMT in black PVD/rubber/carbon, then spotted an Oris Meistertaucher boxed set locally, 2 months old, way less than half price, distress sale, as new. Grabbed it of course! Such a cool watch. As a Swatch Group and (former) Rolex snob I never paid much heed to Oris but they get very good reviews and I like the philosophy/history/stability/fun factor. Can't wait to get my hands on the new watch, should get it Thursday.

I think Oris is a great brand which continues to increase in quality, design and tapping into a heritage, as one of the few independent watch makers. I really like their new in-house 400 antimagnetic movement; great specs and a 10y warranty.

Speaking from experience, I've owned the Crown Crown Pointer in Blue in 40mm and now have both the 36mm chalk green in steel and bronze. Happy with the watches and looking at the Diver 65 line.

I also feel they are one of the few watches where the "buy new" price is fair.

As with many brands, their website and press photos don't do the watch justice... so here are some images that represent real life.

Oris was my first automatic back in 1997, bought it used when I was a student.
Lovely pieces, well priced and some nice designs. They now have an in-house caliber, good job. One of the few independent watchmakers not owned by Swatch, etc.
Have just sold my Oris 65 diver, as much as I loved the blue dial and the vintage lume at 42mm with its wide dial I could never get used to its proportions.
I now have an Oris small seconds 1000m (pork pie shaped case!), Oris rectangular and a 90s Oris pointer (manual wind).

"Pork Pie" - I've never heard the cases referred to that way - always 'tea kettle'. I Live & learn.

Any thoughts about the new 2021 Oris release, the bronze diver 65 “candy floss” range? Do you think those would last 20 years as I’m considering it as a birth year watch.

you have a very nice Oris collection.
My first Oris is a pointer which is very reliable. I don’t wear it as often nowadays but it is this watch that makes me take a 2nd look whenever I come across any Oris watches.

I'm a big fan of my Aquis GMT and switch back & forth between the original steel bracelet and the vanilla scented rubber strap I picked up after (the smell is a bit odd!). Overall, great quality at a very fair price point! They've also put out some really cool limited editions and I always pay attention to their new releases!

I really like it, and I saw on Instagram a real life pic, and as usual, way nicer than the press release photos.

I’d have bought it already but at 38mm too big for my wrist... though I’m sure a sweet spot for many here.

Dream modification would be 36mm with no date, pink and slow tarnish alloy like a omega’s gold-bronze!

I have an Oris Big Crown Date in stainless steel with a blue dial that I really like. Real strap monster, too, and a solid bargain at its price. I'll be getting more in the future. Also like Hamiltons and Seikos and Longines and Damasko and Rolex and Tudor and Omega and...well, pretty much anything other than Invicta!
