Hi all,

I am really keen to understand if you believe this to be a real Omega deville. I have spent a good amount of time looking around and it looks pretty legitimate to me.

I have asked for a photo of the movement but am yet to receive a response.

It is quite reasonable price wise and looks right for the model (I am not sure the exact year). Looks like the crown is not signed and it has a .625 movement.

Would be great to hear your thoughts

From that shot of the back, I'd say no. Omega would not be that crude, they'd use a movement ring so you can have a nice case.

Thanks for the response.

In my investigation I also found this one, which is the same case. Nearly £500 for this one.

Ah, now that I see the other angles, it makes sense and my answer changes.

What are they selling it for?

I'm not an expert, but just to add to the discussion and perhaps spur on others to help, I have a Omega DeVille, circa 1970's, that has a very similar case profile, especially the lugs and on the back of the case, including the caseback.

Could it be that I have a fake too? Maybe, but I did some due diligence at the time of purchase some years back and people have said it looks legitimate.

Thanks for the responses, appreciate it. I do quite like it. I am picking up a TAG next month and picked up a new Seiko a couple of weeks ago, this feels like a nice 'dress' watch to fill a void in my box

Ohh wow.

I sincerely apologise. I used some collective language to address you as a group.

Based on this response maybe I would change it but not for the better.

I'm pretty sure that nobody over the age of 25 wants to be called "dude." With that being said, I'm glad to see someone younger interested in vintage watches.

I turn 40 next month... Personally I always found it quite a gentle term especially for the internet. Gender neutral and inclusive of all ages. Better than gents, chaps, people, peeps or other specific monikers.

To be honest your response will probably stop me coming back.. Shame we could have been friends..

Oh if people are insulted by the omega dudes thing I will gladly take it. If the “omega dude abides” could be added I would be even more appreciative. When I walk in the office in the morning people have begun saying, “the dude abides” I’m diggin it and I’m not a young whippersnapper. Makes me want to bowl or buy a carpet or something

Better to be outbid than to overpay. This was a challenging time for mechanical watches trying to compete with quartz. I would not have gone over 200GBP. Now let's see a picture of this quartz Seamaster brah. 😎

Thanks! I went to £170 and it went for a bit more.

Got this lovely seamaster for well below that!

Wise choice, love the hobnail texture on the dial. If you want a dirt cheap mechanical dress watch that has a similar design to that Omega, a NOS Soviet Luch 2209 can be had for 50GBP serviced. Here is the definitive source:

https://www.2209watchmovement.com/

I have one that is fun to wear.

Great share, I am now on a new watch ban from the wife as I am getting a tag for the 40th next month and currently have a vintage Seiko 5 Baby Monaco in for some restoration too

That Luch is very nice, I was looking at lots of soviet watches this evening then the seamaster popped up so I just ran at it. I will definitely be book marking that page. I work in an office so you can't have too many dress watches
