Hi
Caveats: I’m new to watch collecting and operating on a slender budget.
nonetheless enjoy vintage omegas very much.

this watch below has caught my eye.

it’s a 166.0202 and look very nice. I like it but don’t want to drastically overpay

Questions:
Is it good value for ~$900 AUD?
Are there some other points to consider?

thanks in advance

knee jerk--- $900 AUD is too high.
10XX movements are generally under-appreciated, even as they function well.

It has a 1977 serial number. The movement looks very clean as do the case, dial and hands. You don’t say who the seller is (whether it’s a store, a private sale or an auction) nor if it’s been serviced recently.

I was a little curious why the dial doesn’t say ‘Geneve' or ‘Seamaster' but after googling the reference found that quite a few weren’t. Certainly, that wouldn’t stop me buying it if I really liked it

For price comparison you can check eBay completed sales for similar watches or just Google.

With watches, like most things, it’s what takes your fancy. Given the condition - and it looks as though it could have come out of the factory yesterday, I’d be prepared to pay a little over the odds if I really liked the look of it.

It looks nice for a 44 year old watch.

It should be mentioned, though, that those without a model name tend to fetch the least money.

900AUD is a little high for this imo, I would’ve expected ~650. But as stated above, depends a lot on who the seller is and what he’s done with it prior to a sale. Condition does look good.
