I don’t anything about Patek and apparently I saved this then the seller offered a nice discount, does it look legit. Thanks in advance https://www.ebay.com/itm/PATEK-PHILIPPE-CALATRAVA-18K-PINK-GOLD-VINTAGE-REF-2451-WATERPROOF-CASE-WATCH/293729917131?hash=item4463aad8cb:g:E~4AAOSwVClfWsGK
It is same size as ref 96., but supposed to be water resistant. Sub second hand looks off, dial is not clean and the pearls on the minute track look like they have been trampled with. I think the price seems right for the watch but it also allow you to make an offer. If you want to be perfectly certain, write Patek and inquire about the case back serial and movement serial (they have to match to prove the watch is genuine article).
I believe the watch is legit, but, I also believe the dial has been redone, and not redone to the standards that are of a Patek Philippe watch. I have also attached an image of the ref 2452 from Heritage Auction House. I like the reference, I don't like the particular example on eBay.
Picture for posterity ... That subdial looks very wrong to me - and the minute markers out of line too, plus the price, all makes me think this is off. I would pass on this.
Thanks for all the comments. If this were a Zenith I’d know what’s what. When you’re not familiar, it’s harder to problems
I would ask for some angled photos of the dial; I believe the dial should be ‘indelible’... the letters should be raised slightly when viewed from an angle as you see in the photo posted above. I also think the brushed finish on the lugs look quite crude.
In addition to all the above, I'm not thrilled with the somewhat crude manner which the minute "dots" look.
The bottom hour markers overlaps the sub seconds dial. This is not Patek's design or work. Someone else has worked on this watch.
