Considering this Constellation 14902-3 (18K rose gold, silver cross-hair pie-pan dial) currently listed on eBay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/158206491145

Seller's photos show the caseback hallmark (18K/0.750, ref stamp matches) and the cal.561 movement, but I don't have a daylight shot of the dial yet - all the seller's photos are studio-lit. Under that light the dial reads warmer/creamier than a crisp cool silver, with some visible age spotting.

Does anything here look like a redial to you, or any other originality concerns? Any flags on the case (dog-leg lugs, seem unpolished to me) or dial finish? Appreciate any expert eyes before I go further with the seller.

No concerns regarding originality, but there’s a reason this has been sitting there for months. The price would be ok if the condition was great. It’s not…

The dial just looks dirty, which is a major distractor.

The case certainly has seen significant polishing. For reference, this is what a pretty sharp 18k dogleg lug looks like:

And this is what the medallion looked like, before it was polished so that the rough structure of the background vanished entirely:

I’ll admit 18k rose gold dog legs don’t pop up easily. But I know I wouldn’t be happy with the mediocrity of this one, especially at top dollar. And then some.

Exactly what @MtV said.

The watch is original, except for the replacement crown and seconds hand.

Whilst not terrible the case has seen some polishing - especially the bottom left lug.

The movt and inner caseback are showing signs of rotor rub, so the watch requires a service.

However, the dial is deeply unattractive with the patina it is showing and for $7,500 it would be a strong no go for me.

I know we can’t travel back in time but in this condition before the gold price rise and ‘pie pan bubble’ this would have been a $2500 watch.

Thanks both - really helpful, and good catch on the replacement crown/seconds hand and the rotor rub, I hadn't clocked either of those.

Seller got back to me with two more photos: one on a scale (43.8g) and one held outdoors in what looks like genuine daylight (dated a day later than the listing photos, different lighting, store tag visible in frame). Posting both here.

Look at the second photo above when the seller had the watch in his hand.

Park anything about gold value etc. It’s simply not an attractive watch

The photo of the watch on the scales makes me laugh, it's like weighing a cake and expecting to be able to say how many grams of sugar are in it!

+1 All of the above … I love vintage gold dress watches. I have a bunch. This dial is too far gone for my tastes. I also own two SS Pie Pans with pristine onyx dials. Hard pass.
