Is it fine then?
I have seen examples on the internet with this dial and case back (with the 14700 and 14701 references stamped) and the cal 562 movement.
Thanks again!
Oh yes I see it now. Then it is fine

As cristos71 said, it’s fine, since your case back is also stamped with the correct ref. 14701. And he‘s also right about the fact that the 14700 is the no-date version. Those come with 552 movements.

By the way it might be me but I cringe at seeing that finger on the movement.

Here’s what Omega has to say about Ref. 14701:

https://www.omegawatches.com/en-us/watch-omega-seamaster-calendar-ck-14701

Not sure if bracelet is correct for this reference, but I don’t think that’s particularly important at this price.

Good luck with purchase,

Good day
I am considering this purchase. Is the dial spotting a concern (ie is it the kind that would get worse quickly?)

Are the condition of the hands a concern?

Apart from the obvious wear to the case am I right in observing that the case is not polished much?

It will look great with a brown leather band. Grab it and wear it!

Hi Cristos and everyone!

Sorry to bring up this thread again but I would like to share some updated developments:

The seller has now put it on offer for $296 (reduced from the original $327) and has put it on a leather strap.
It looks so much better on the strap I must say!

My questions for opinions are as follows:

Is it still looking tired based on the new pics and for that price is it worth it for use as a wearer (and not for collectability)?

I think the crown is original (it compares with the crown) shown on the OVD but the omega logo is worn on the edges making the logo look like a "U". Am I right?

Finally I can also purchase an authentic buckle to match for $33 (see photos attached)
My question is this buckle matching the time period of the watch of 1962? I know it is an older buckle but don't know if it from the 50's or 60's.

Sorry about photos (not the clearest)and the fingers (not mine!)

Cheers Neal

That doesn’t make sense to me. You would be giving away the bracelet for 31 USD (believe me, it’s worth more than that plus a cheap no-name strap) and buying instead a buckle for 33 bucks. No, at those prices, it would make much more sense to buy both the bracelet and the buckle. Better still, buy it with the bracelet at the original price, buy the buckle and try to get the strap thrown in for free.

I see what you are saying. The bracelet is ugly though with that watch. I could re-sell it.

Do you like this watch, or are you just attracted to a cheapish old Omega because you want a vintage Omega? I personally don't find this watch attractive. The gold is a ding against it, and the dial and case condition put it into the beater category for me. If it looked like Shabbaz's, that would be a totally different story. The Stainless version of this reference can be had for a hundred or two more when they come up- and in better shape.
If you do love the well worn gold case and patina on the dial- and you find it attractive, then go for it- a brown rustic style strap would actually make it look rugged and cool, don't try to dress it up, it's like wearing a threadbare suit with shiny new shoes. Get the bracelet with it for the price and flip it- someone will buy it.

Thanks for your candid opinions. I dont think it is as bad a condition as you say and I think its attractive. Okay the wear and patina arent ideal but hey it is from 1962 it has a history! Its condition matches the price and I can wear it as a beater and not worry about collectibality!

Can you reply to my questions about the buckle time period and the crown? I would appreciate it !

Crown is probably original- and the seals inside hard as a rock, so don't get it anywhere near water (I always have crowns replaced during a service and keep the original in a baggie- otherwise you are flirting with a hand washing disaster). Originals crowns and crystals are a nice to have but not a deal breaker on a watch like this.
Buckle looks fine for period to me but these little peripherals are not my forte. I think the price on the buckle is a little steep considering the condition.
I say, offer the seller of the watch $300 with the bracelet and strap (I would ask if he can provide the receipt for the service as that is over half the value of the watch right there) and either sell the bracelet, or throw it in a drawer. You may find the watch that goes to that bracelet down the line (this has happened to many of us) thus why even if a bracelet is mismatched to a watch, if it's a factory bracelet, I always take it.

The bracelet is ugly though with that watch.
That is of course a matter of personal taste. I was looking at it commercially.
FWIW in my opinion the bracelet looks ok with the watch. I would never wear a gold bracelet watch in public though 😀
The buckle is original, btw.

I like the watch and would've grabbed it already for that price.

Thanks for helping me on the commercial side. The seller agreed to selling me the watch with the bracelet for $327 original price and also threw in the strap for free!

Dear Respectable Members

Would any one be so kind as to confirm if Omega crystal PX5140 is the correct crystal for a Seamaster, cal. 562, case ref 14701. Many thanks.
