Hi folks am looking at this 166.032 (with spanish day wheel, my native language 馃槈 ) for sale, owner says is running well (recently serviced/adjusted) for about $600. Does the dial looks original? How hard is to get new genuine plexiglass for it? Crown looks correct? Good deal?

Thanks

Francisco

Do they provide evidence that it was serviced? The scratched crystal is a big indication that they are either lying or that this "service" was something pretty weak.

I'm bad at detecting this, but does it look over polished as well? (I will let others chime in)

No evidence of servicing is indicated; just asked seller and he said was serviced few months ago, but lets assume not recently serviced.

You can post the Ebay link in the thread.

90% of the time when someone on Ebay says that a watch was serviced, they aren't being totally truthful.

I'd pass and move on.

The crown is not correct. Diameter is too small.

Dial looks original, case and buckle were polished. Back gasket looks iffy, you should assume it would need a service, some refinishing, a crown and a crystal. Rotors marks on the caseback!

If you really want it you could make a low offer, but refinishing a case is not always easy. The plain model (not chronometer rated) is not rare, you may wait for a better example. As it is, this one is too pricey imho.

FYI, my 168.023 was in the same range price-wise, but it has an original plexi and crown, is not polished and the movement is very clean, even if it need a service, it is dry.

Thanks. What would be a recommended offer as is?

I'd just pass and move onto to a good example. I've seen similar models (in much better shape) for sale here.

That is for you to know, if you really want it, how much can you afford, how much will it cost to bring it back to its former glory.

I'd pass for another with better cosmetics if I were you, the mechanical problems can be solved, the cosmetic ones, not so much. Parts + service + some proper refinishing can add up quickly and you will still miss the original finish and crispness.

Thanks to all for feedback. I thought about putting an offer as just the bracelet is worth over $100 and the dial, which seems to be un-restored, looks nice. I don鈥檛 mind polish cases as long as bevels are still present and this one seemed not to be heavily polished.

I don鈥檛 see any others like this one in the forum, the last few sold were north of $1000. This chrono version (168.023) for sale in another forum, with incorrect hands (seller includes original hands) but well over $1000 as well, crazy price:

For the last one:
- generic crystal?
- incorrect hands
- case looks badly polished too
- crown is bad (bent) and incorrect
- unserviced
- I don't like the color of the movement plating, it may be worn but it is hard to tell (too yellow)

WTF is the deal with the hands, the correct handset is outside of the watch? Smells fishy don't you think?

No way this is worth 1.2k!

If you reaaally want the one in the 1st post, shoot a 300$ offer, factoring service and parts you may have a 600$ beater in the end. But usually, waiting for a good one is a better idea than rushing, there is always a better one around the next corner.

Is 063PZ5111 the correct Omega part number for the plexiglass on this model? Wonder if still available from Omega
