You have to sell off every watch but one, what are you keeping?

You get to pick one watch you've never owned and it's yours free but you can never sell it - what are you picking?

This answer kinda feels like cheating but it is in accordance with the rules 😜

Keep my first Heuer Carrera 7753NS -- on my wrist for coming up to 53 years (only occasionally now).

Accept the very generous offer of a Heuer Skipperrera, which although it is officially a 7754 has the same case and reference engraved as my Carrera 7753.


Why? The 7753 was all the watch I needed for the first 13 years and pretty much through the next three decades. Why not the Skippera in the first place? I did not know they existed. I only knew what was advertised in MotorSport monthly magazine and New Musical Express weekly newspaper (no watches). But had I known....

.... I probably couldn't have persuaded my dad to buy me one 🙁

As pointed out in a post in another thread: my watches are no longer kept in a drawer in the kitchen table 🙄

Oh, there are a couple of beaters in there. But they are beaters after all.

I’ve just woken up and realised that this particular 'worm' has been running around my head all night.

This one, although not worn as regularly as when I got it, would be high on my shortlist.

That version of the SMP is one of the best bang for the buck watches to ever come from Omega. MSRP was $4,400, but you could pick them up new for less than $3k on the grey market. Omega put a lot into that watch for the price: co-axial 2500-d movement, ceramic bezel, applied logo and hour markers in white gold, great lume and a beautiful hippocampus engraving on the case back. The glossy no waves dial broke with the traditional wave pattern, but it gave the watch a very classy look. Probably one of the few dive watches that really is more of an all rounder and some serious eye candy.

I'll keep the Paul Newman-owned Paul Newman Daytona I picked up from the Phillips auction a few years back... and if I can just get my hands on this Mission to Mars I'd finally be content.

I'd keep my white gold Hamilton Piping Rock (sorry yellow gold Piping Rock).

I would pick a Nautilus 5711 for its elegance and simplicity. Just the right amount of sportiness and dressiness all in one watch.

I couldn't agree more. 6 years down the line and its my go to for my nautical adventures, I'd never be without it.
