Steve,
I’m very sorry. This has to be the saddest thread on the Omega Forum.
I send my heartfelt condolences to you, and to this fine young man’s colleagues, friends, and family.

It’s a tragic reminder that when police deal with any situation, they never know when some evil might strike out at them and others, no matter how banal things might seem. It’s a reason to always try and be as clear and helpful to them as possible, as they have a big burden to cover off which the public won’t be aware of. Very sorry to read this news. I am sure people will come together and give everyone affected strong support.

Steve, I am very sorry…this unfortunately hits home for you.

Please feel free to call me if you feel like it (I’ll private message my number to you). I’m not a trained grief counselor…but as a former police officer, I can somewhat relate to your pain. Through various life experiences, I know that “just chatting” has the ability to calm the bobcat in our head.

V/R,

Collin Wayne

Thanks everyone for your wishes, messages and thoughts.

We have a great group of members here on OF with a ton of life experience. Your support is amazing.

I have been in contact with some of his colleagues and friends and they are doing surprisingly well.

Wishing all a wonderful end to the year and all the best for 2023.

So young, so sad— it must be beyond devastating for his parents and family, and of course as a teacher you are a bit like a parent.
Deepest condolences.

Absolutely brutal news. To happen on the very same day that he was told that he'd passed his 10 month probationary period and could patrol solo; the most tragic of coincidences.

This is shocking and seemingly so completely senseless, my condolences.

Part of the beauty of life is a willingness to lay it down for a cause or for others.
Bless those that sacrifice for us and our heartfelt wishes to you, Steve, as well.

Such awful news - my heart goes out to his family, friends and acquaintances - but it’s so inspiring to think of all those wonderful people who choose to serve others and risk their own lives to protect and help keep us save. RIP

My biggest condolences to you and his family.
I'm no teacher, but I do know how you feel.

There must be borrrowed angels, here in this life. They come along, into this world, and make this world bright. But they can't stay forever. Cause they're heaven sent. And sometimes, heaven needs them back again.

Rest in peace
