On the hunt… my first vintage piece. Omega Constellation Pie Pan

Congrats @W@tch K8ty on your restaurateur accomplishment. I was in Atlanta in early 70s for med school and enjoyed those years immensely. There was very little outside the 285 beltway if you can believe that! We caught trout fly fishing n the Chattahoochee just north of 285!
You are celebrating a career milestone and want a nice Omega Constellation with a star to match your own. Great choice! There are very many choices as you now know. Trying to decipher the listings of a bulk high volume seller like Closer seems to me the wrong approach for this. Experienced collectors Who know their stuff can find good buys there but for you it’s a bit of unknown minefield.
I recommend that you find a nice classic stainless steel pie pan Constellation from a reputable OF member and go ahead and spend a little more for the peace of mind it brings to you. Choose the best condition option and go for it. Not everything in life has to be a great deal. Get something good and enjoy it. You won’t regret it.
Good advice thank you. Still reminding myself that I am very early in this part or the search ( took me more than 4 months to decide which watch in general I wanted to celebrate with, out of numerous options I was considering, which were mostly all new/modern pieces, as well) so with only a couple of weeks of leaning into the world of vintage Omega Constellations and just now discovering this generous group of experts, I am optimistic about what wonderful piece I will end up with. Glad I didn’t let my hot head and excitement take me down a path of immediate gratification that would likely result in regret.

Anyone want to tear this one apart? The seller/watchmaker is up front about some “restoration”. Seen very few examples of the dagger hour markers like this but based on some of the comments of the other Closer piece, this too looks like another example of the markers coming out too far and it looks like some are not perfectly placed…

Tim has always been up front when dials on his watches have been redone.

He also has a good reputation for quality repair and service.

How would you feel about knowing a watch had a redial?

If originality isn’t your only concern, it would open up so many more options and most competitive pricing. But for me you can’t beat originality.

I agree the minute marks are too much towards centre. The cross hairs are too heavy and malaligned, cutting through the e. Swiss made looks heavy too. There maybe more wrong but I say redial.

The issue is not the center, but where it goes through the Constellation printing, which will not be affected by the angle, because the three points are in the plane of the dial.
Oh, I see. Makes sense.

Today...

What do you mean? - Looks great!

Surely, the pissed as a fart minute hache alignment, incorrect lettering and the rounded edged pie-pan dial are just Omega quality control issues? - after all this was a long time ago and the Swiss aren't renowned for their fastidious adherence to rules and regulations.....

I contacted Closer and suggested that they look into this situation

I think you are trying to push water uphill....

This listed by Closer today. No mention of the dial being repainted.
They are a good seller if you’re an educated buyer.

@W@tch K8ty Not much to add here from the experts. I would +1 on researching what you want and being patient for the example you desire.

That said, I would like to make an offer as I am local here in Atlanta.
1) Would love the opportunity to patronize your Michelin restaurant!
2) Regardless of whether you buy my example currently FS, I’d be happy to bring it along to at least handle in person to help in your decision.

Happy hunting!

Was already mentioned previously in the thread but here’s the link: https://omegaforums.net/threads/18k-yg-pie-pan-connie-reduced.170424/

I’ll PM you to get details on Mujo! Looking forward to it 👍
Thank you for reminding me. I do remember seeing this now and it is a truly gorgeous piece but well out of my price range. Maybe when I’m celebrating two stars… . Should you come join us at the restaurant, however, I would be honored to see it in person.

Any feedback on this one from Closer? Obviously some texture to the dial. Can someone provide insight on what that means besides some natural aging/“patina”. Water damage? Seller sights +48s/day so running a bit rough. Heavier scratches for sure than some of his other offerings and priced at $1300

That watch was ridden hard and hung up wet. The crown is modern and doesn’t seem to match the case. Lugs are very heavily polished and full of nicks and scratches. It likely spent many years on a one-size-fits-all Twist-O-Flex type bracelet.

I wouldn’t touch that one.
