Omega White Side of the Moon...

I think they should drop the facade and just call the series the "Swatch Side Of Omega" I said it before and I'll say it again, IMHO they should make a little bit more of an effort to establish or re-establish the omega marketing and brand value without necessarily cross breeding with Swatch. No disrespect to Swatch. amazing company and a good brand, but keep it a little compartmentalized.

I must say i'm leaning more and more towards other brands as Omega seems to be de-valuating a little. We used to talk about Rolex being too isolated and not innovative enough, now I kind of applaud them staying on brand.

I have had 6 Omegas and retain 5. Love them, but then all the color combinations start coming through, and the sides of the moon, and the 007 LE with all the gimmicky brand logos (I know that's not exactly a new development but...) Even one of the strongest steps they took, to bring back the smp300, they had to "beautify" it with the faux vintage lume, like somehow a new watch would not be enough to sustain sales (and who am I to judge, it's certainly selling) Now they will bring back the rail master and probably won't leave that alone either. By comparison a new Explorer 1 is still iconic and classic. When you buy it you're getting a new explorer, that looks new and will age with you.

Fortunately Omega is still working on horological advancements and I applaud them for that.

Anyway, let's see what else comes along

If by an unfortunate stroke of truly rotten luck I was forced at gunpoint to take one, it'd be the Alaska Project for me.

That said the ceramic might look very nice & modern in person and I've a feeling it'll do very well in the CJK markets too... possibly female customers more than male

Very, very underwhelming.

Hopefully there'll be some kind of straigh lug as well.

It seems like they're milking the ceramic for all its worth simply because they could with no regard for if they should.

I'm sure the ceramic technology cost Omega a fair bit so I think now they're just in money recouping mode. The more ceramic watches they make, the more profitable ceramic tech becomes to them. I'll wait to actually handle and see the piece first hand before making a final judgement but I reckon there'll be more to see from Omega during Basel World.

At the end of the day, it's all about remaining profitable and that means doing and balancing a lot of things. IMHO companies have to keep evolving and while all of us that love the brand would like to see them stay true to their roots and maintain their heritage etc. - more often than not it's just not possible. Every brand that I feel something for has, in my opinion, lost a little of itself over the years and sometimes that even happens by refusing to change. In my view, Rolex is that company, it has just not bothered to evolve to the point where now, I don't even care about what they do anymore - they're a brand I feel absolutely nothing for and indifference ultimately becomes very toxic to brands. Rolex is okay riding the perceptions of the past and it may well go on for decades but I just don't care about them and never recommend any of their watches to my friends.

I saw a few friends earlier today and asked which brands they're following - not one of the 8 said Rolex.

Not for me. Hope there's something more interesting coming (to distract everyone from the vintage stuff, even for a few days!)

wow... So much hate

Let's all take a breath....

No one here is forced to buy anything...I'm sure there are people who will covet and cherish this...

I will reserve judgement... These photo-cartoons rarely reveal the watches true beauty... Just think about what happens when natural light hits the darkside...
This could be magic on the wrist...

The best thing about the ceramics is that you can use the dishwasher to service them.

Its not hate...it is disappointment.

I am a huge fan, I will continue to buy Omega watches.

But, I think they dropped the ball on this one. They had a home run with the GSOTM.

They would have been in a much better place if they focused on improving the Planet Ocean line. This line has tremendous potential to be a classic watch if they address the thickness.

Even with that said my next Omega may be a Good Plant or titanium PO 45.

I did the same thing. She just said, "That's a girl's watch. It's cool."
