Omega warranty card not with new watch

I purchased my first Omega watch today from a authorised dealer in the UK. Was then told that the warranty/guarantee card will be sent to me. They said first they have to get it from Omega, then they send to me. The watch is brand new. Is this normal practise?

I hope other Omega owners can tell me

Here in the US, I have always had the card included with any Omegas I have bought in the past, including all three of the 60th trilogy models I recently got. Perhaps was a simple mistake of Omega leaving it out by accident prior to sending to your dealer? If they are and AD as you noted, I am sure will be rectified.

I'm sure it will, but what annoys me is the AD gave the impression that this was how it was done. I think the fact is they couldn't find the right box with the card enclosed so they just gave me a false story.

Yes, would not be the first time a watch at an AD and its rightful box got separated. A number of reports have recently come out of Trilogy models being delivered to customers with the wrong box (the extra strap colors inside give it away). Dealers mix them up all the time as they usually receive the watches separate from the box sets meant to go with them and are to mate them up in their store.

I'm disappointed that the AD seems to have lied to me. If they had explained that they couldn't find the card, but its not a problem to get a replacement, fine. I might not have been happy about that, but at least I would have known the truth.

This is my first expensive watch and I'd expect things to be right.

It might not be a lie, but an honest mistake. Give the AD a chance to make it right.

I think an AD should know if the card should be with it or not. From what I've read on here and on another forum, all purchases of new Omegas have come with the card. So I can only say they weren't truthful with me.

I’ve never had a new watch from an AD not have the warranty card with the watch and box at time of purchase.

One of my Seamasters was bought from an AD in Tel Aviv. They send the card separate from the watch and box a few weeks later and told me it was standard practice. This was in 2012.

My first purchase the AD delayed my card more three weeks. That was last watch I will purchase from this seller. All other AD's since then have supplied everything with the watch.

I've spoken with Omega and they confirmed that the warranty card should have been with it. So I phoned the AD and told them I was not happy as it wasn't. They said that it had possibly been lost and would get another. I replied that this wasn't the impression I was given when I bought it. Also told them for all I know this watch had been sold to someone else and returned without the card. In effect not a new watch.

It was the only one in store, but they are trying to arrange to get a brand new replacement in for Friday, with the warranty card I hope.

One more question. Should there be one or two cards with it. The warranty card and a second that is the pictogram card?

Thanks for the replies I've had so far, you've all been most helpful.

When the watch ships from Omega, it comes to a dealer, or a boutique in a plastic "coffin", this includes the hang tag (attached to the watch), the pictogram card, and the warranty card.

The dealer/ob then pairs it with the correct box/manual when they sell it.

As I understand, things are done this way to make logistics, transport, and storage in safes easier.

Sounds like the dealer has lost the cards, or if it's part of a group, perhaps the watch is an ex-display that's been passed around.

Ultimately, none of this should be your concern as a customer - unless the watch is sold as pre-owned, it should come to you as new, with al the correct cards/boxes/manuals.

As they are supposed to be replacing it on Friday I'm now wearing it.

The coffin mentioned above should look like this. On the top outside is a recess to hold the plastic tag. Inside there are two section. The top holds the watch and the lower holds the cards. On the side is a label with serial, model numbers etc. that will match the tag and cards. If they are ordering you a new watch, I would say you want everything including the plastic coffin case. Often dealers just toss them.

Being part of a group of stores, I think their plan is to have one sentt to them from another store, so I would imagine it''l be in the Omega box.

Two cards (International warranty + Pictogram), unless you have a newer watch with a METAS-certified piece, which should then include a third card: the Master Chronometer card
