Omega vintage watches - prices low to high

Hi, I recently purchased an Omega De Ville 1332 cal from Ebay - very happy with the watch and (from what I understand) it is 'genuine'. However I only paid 拢250 - looks like this is roughly the going rate for these watches on Ebay. I was just wondering why (assuming the watches are genuine) the prices for Omega vintage watches go from this to thousands.....
Did Omega used to make bad watches, or is it a case of what is desirable, etc?
....or is my watch likely a fake 馃榾

Thanks

1332 is a quartz movement from the 1970/80s, that is your smoking gun for why the values are low. If it isn't working right, you may find the cost to fix it makes it look rather less of a good deal.

Welcome. Stick around a while, read lots and then ask intelligent questions. The answer to this and lots of other questions are in the pages of the Forums.

There is not a very direct correlation between watch quality and price. You can buy a high horology watch on the second hand market for a fraction of their retail price. The prices does not make them a bad watch.

Thanks all, I'd like to splash out on a new Omega at some point, but that is for the future....
I've been told it's been serviced and works well (certainly is at the moment). Assuming I get a good few years out of it I'd be happy with that just for the fact it's an Omega as I really like the style of this one.

As with many vintage collectibles, only certain models and styles are considered desirable by 'serious' collectors willing to pay big money to get exactly what they want. Also as with many vintage collectibles, condition is paramount, and the older a model is, the harder it is to find one in anything near mint condition, and the higher the likely market value of one that is. Of course, rarity in general is a significant factor. All of which means you need to figure out what you like rather than worry about what the market likes.
