Something VERY RARE from my Collection:::::::: Omega Shopfront Chronometre` with 8 day movement and Dead Beat/Jumping Second in the rarest case. Most came in timber crafted cases. This here is an all original Round Alloy Case. Handmade by Omega and therefore stamped with the same case number at each section, to not mix things up at a service. Case number is 47. Reference number is 5003. this example here is unmolested. was in the shop front of an small Sydney Omega Repair shop in the City . For 50 Years. Showing Customers Chronometer time. After the shop closed down due to retirement, i was fortunate to buy that. Was serviced a few years ago by Sydney`s Omega Specialist Joe Santos : He still had parts for it ! The Australian Sun shows on the all Original Dial. The peeled sections have been stabilized and will not peel any further. The very delicate Steel blued hands have some surface rust, which will polish out easily. I did not want to alter anything, so we left it that way. We did not touch anything here. The only thing replaced, as far as i can see, is the curved Glass. Caliber 59.8 D SCS . the last picture shows the excerpt from the omega book from Mr. Kreutzer. The Omega Ad from the time. This Clock will only be shipped via courier with external full 3. party insurance. Carefully packed and secured. You become the custodian of a very important chapter of Swiss Watchmaking history here. Jumping second was an achievement in mechanical watches. Diameter base: 11 centimeters. Diameter top part: 9,5 cm. Height: 4 cm incl. the curved glass. The large metal / Brass Omega letters are screwed into the base. Gold / Brass colour.

* About the hack mechanism: the back has 3 holes. Winding and setting levers are visible. The middle hole, that appears empty, houses the hacking, eccentric lever. The lever is missing here, but the hacking mechanism is accessible with a small screw driver through that hole in the middle. A tiny, anti clockwise turn and the hacking mechanism engages. Watch the center second and as soon as it stops to set the exact time, the watch is running and as soon as the time setting is correct to the second, release the mechanism in turning the screw driver back clockwise until is locks. Never engage the stopping eccentric screw longer or with force, because the stopping mechanism works with a very fine, spring loaded steel blade , that should put too much pressure onto the second escape mechanism for the jumping second. Easy to do , once you did it . And not necessary often, only to synchronize the second hand to a master time keeper.*
