Omega T17 - sector dial refinished?

Saw this one recently on ebay - was wondering if the dial was a refinished one or not.
dial seems too clean to be true, also omega logo and text seems too "modern", as in 60~70's design, versus 30~40's era that this watch should be from.
But still not an obvious redial from compared to poor redials on the web.

Never seen this dial variant on a T17 before, so I couldn't make any direct comparisons.

Also, have seen this case design in a couple of photos, mostly all of them with poorly refinished dials, and would be great if someone can figure out the reference number. (As in starting with CK~)
Looked at old catalogues of T17s, from this forum, with no avail.

Anyways, here are the photos, great thanks in advance for all the advice.

I’m not someone that can help you find out if it’s been re-finished but I think it looks awesome regardless.

I have a vintage tissot but it is nowhere as clean as that. Very rough as a matter of fact, but I love it.

Calling @Tire-comedon our resident expert on these early watches.

For me one the tells for redial is the loss of crispness on the edges of the sub-dial.

I have this style of T17, and I also have 20F DIAL, the configuration of T17 is very rare, I thought I bought it from 20F at that time, I wanted to replace my stock DIAL, but only when I arrived did I find that it was the configuration of T17, and all the dials in my picture are original ones. But this DIAL you sent me is Definitely refinished, but it's an official early work

Our expert showed me these when confirming mine
Watch nr 423 looks so cool! Does anyone know what ref that is? Is it cal T17?
At first I thought it was Marine Standard CK 3635 but it's not.

Another very similar example up for auction, this one cal. 20F.

I guess it's another very early redial...?

Very similar in style, also very high quality

  • however does not have crispness in the edge of the subdials
  • omega logo is also slightly different - which is interesting, four examples so far all have different logos.
  • "SWISS MADE" is I think the factor that leans most towards redial.

However the dial looks really convincing, very high quality so I really don't know. Moment I think it must be a redial, the next moment I'm convinced this is the real deal.

I also do like the form factor of this case better than the T17 example I shared above...

Further inputs would be much appreciated.

Not necessarily. That redial is either Causemann or Bethge. It's quite easy to repaint, because the Hour Marker are applied , not printed. So , that gives you a perfect Border.

would you mean that the dial is engraved enamel??

I don't see it as applied indexes...

I briefly had the top one, first one in the post before returning it to the seller.
