I would go for the modern one which has the screws rather than tubes and pins on the removable links. Current reference is STZ004194, but older 1958/957 is essentially the same band.

Great. Thanks for the info! Will look into it.

I'd imagine that being the modern one these are easily available at OB. Correct?

At least the STZ one should be easy to source through OB, but list price is about $800. I recently sold a mint one for about $400, should had kept it ::facepalm1::

From what I can tell the 1958/957 has those polished "stripes" on the middle links, whereas the 1171 is all brushed, correct? I think that the 1171 would look good, but I suspect it would be harder to find. My undertanding is that it's an older bracelet not used in current models. Is that the case? Apologies for all the questions!

1447 or 1450 would be the perfect fit - but hard to source...

Well, as ever, buy it for enjoyment, not as an investment.

I'm not sure looking at how the old watches have done is a yardstick for how current ones will do. The early ones have gone up in value because of their scarcity, because they were the originals and because of their historical significance with the space race. I'm not sure any of that applies here.

Only a very, very small minority of watches even retain their value, let alone have their value increase. You're on a bit of a hiding to nothing hoping for a profit from a watch.

But does it matter? It's just a piece of jewellery. If you like it buy it and enjoy it, any retention of value is really just a bonus. It shouldn't inform your thinking.

Quite agree Nick - it's a shame more people don't think this way. Whilst I derive a lot of good information and enjoyment from this Forum, I'm often disappointed that a lot of the dialogue is about value/flipping/'investment' etc. There is so much more of far greater interest to consider and discuss about the concepts and aesthetics of design, technical details and history.

    Hello guys,

I am a little confused here - I am also on the reservation list for the ST and I love it. Doesn't matter if I get it this summer or autumn, as long as I get it :)

However, I am quite pleased with the neo-vintage Speedmaster 1957-2017. To my understanding, the triology (Railmaster, Seamster, Speedmaster) is limited.

But what if I am just interested in the Speedmaster? Is it available separately and is it also limited?

    Thanks for you help here.
    Cheerio,

    cool - thanks a lot!
Can one pre-order that Speedmaster limited re-edtion of the 1957 model online?
This might be sold out otherwise before, right? :)

However, there seems to be another brandnew Speedy Moonwatch LE from the Apollo program.
Anyone got news on that one? Have just seen a picture of it yestersday, but can't find it now.

    Thanks a bunch guys!

I also hope that's not true although there is always a delay with LE's. First they said June. Few weeks later it was July-Aug. Now Oct-Nov!?
Hopefully we can put it under the Xmas tree. :D

Omega has been Instragramming a lot of images of the existing Apollo LEs today, you sure the watch you've seen wasn't one of the earlier ones?

The 1171 will look great but apparently quality of the new ones that cab still be bought isn't the greatest. Best to try for a vintage one but it'll cost a pretty penny...
