This has been covered earlier, the ST is cheapest in the U.K. at around $5125 including 20% VAT at today's exchange rate. That is unless Omega up the price in their rumoured March GBP price increase.

I can live with the extra 175USD lol. Just hoping it comes sooner than expected !

First the west coast misses out and then the taxation/pricing ::facepalm1:: for the Americans.

Really looking forward to getting my first speedy 馃憤

Lots of speculation about future value here... but don't forget that Omega can launch another (reverse) panda version at any time.... and then, all bets are off!!

That they certainly could do. In fact I'm sure they will at some point, they've been toying about with Panda Speedies a lot recently. Could well hurt the secondary value, but equally I'd doubt it would have many of the other nice features like the applied logo or radial dials. Could even up interest in reverse-Panda dials, making this LE all the more desirable. At the end of the day it's a watch, not an investment, so doesn't matter much either way.

I'd be more annoyed if this happens.

Just got mail about my reservation and was asked where will I make pick up, becouse I did not choose butique from list.

I send reply back about differend pricing in UK and rest of EU. 4,1k GBP (4,8k eur) VS. 5,4k eur
I asked if I can get more details about this "issue" and will see what will they answer me.

I had the same thoughts about the price in UK. It was no problem for me to arrange pickup at an OB in London. Price for the watch there GBP4100 - so hopefully the saving makes up a nice trip there.

Got a call from my local Omega Boutique today that they received the confirmation of my order from Biel. There are around 50 reservations in Munich. Delivery will start in June, can't wait, I'm so excited...

Yeah the arbitrage in this case is obscene. Kinda leaves a bad taste in your mouth.

So I have been looking for the perfect leather strap to go with the ST without doing custom (which I love but it can get pricey). I found this one from Hadley Roma. Its a textured leather and comes in brown and black. At $29 its pretty solid. My only issue is that the stitching is a tan/champagne color and I want a more silver color. So to get it the color I want I use a fine tipped silver Sharpie and just lightly touch the threads. The ink gets drawn into the threads but is easy to remove from the leather with a damp cloth. The second modification I do is take a standard butterfly deployant clasp and remove the buckle end and replace it with a matching hood end. Now I have a butterfly clasp with two hood ends. After I remove all the hardware and keepers (the fixed keeper after it is cut and worked free of the glue with a screw driver can be pulled out with a pliers) I put a hole, with a hole punch, where the the fixed keeper was and cut the strap with an exacto knife to fit in the hood. You than cut the other strap end with the holes to the correct length and your done. I like to buy two straps and use only the buckle ends so that there are no holes visible. Using two straps to make one is kind of a waste but it looks custom for about a third of the cost.

Q: Why did the mohel retire?
A: He just couldn't cut it anymore

So, I'm slated to pick my ST up in Korea anyone have any idea how much it's going to cost there? Also, if I buy there and bring back with me am I going to have any issues with customs?

One of the problems regarding the "future re-sellers" is that profit margin is going to be inherently slimmer given the fact that everyone who buys... even speculators will have to pay full Msrp plus tax...
not the case with CK2998 and snoopy (available to dealers with a 40% profit margin)...

So anyone buying with the idea of flipping at a big profit is taking a pretty large risk.... the mistake from Omega was not requiring a deposit (refundable as credit for purchase at boutique)... and not making it available BEFORE basel'17...

because honestly, some Baselworld novelties may quickly re-direct many people's intended watch budget funds away from the Speedy tuesday....

Ultimately, it makes good Press (like the gong show that is the Hodinkee Vacheron)... because the headlines now read "SOLD OUT IN HOURS"

Page twelve news in 6 months very well might read "many reservations cancelled"... but by then no one will care.

This would only make a difference if it was available anywhere cheaper. No-one can buy below the MSRP therefore that's the base price region.

Supply and demand will determine the market value after that - there may you say be some cancelled orders diluting market price. Or there may not.

Indeed, complaining to Omega isn't going to prompt them to reduce the price in other regions. The only effect it will have is to prompt them to increase the price in the UK.

Everyone knew what price it was in their region before they reserved one.
Enough spilt milk chatter, let's talk about the watch. 馃榾

The reverse panda look had me, and the lume signed and sealed it.

This years major budget was a Rolex so a win for Omega.

actually i was looking forward to the explorer 2 white dial as well, my AD was ready to offer a juicy price as well.

I'm afraid it's often like this here - little discussion of interesting aesthetic and concept aspects, but lots of grubby, boring focus on how much the watch might fetch on the re-sale market. And most of that is really just a statement of what people are wishing for as there's no inside information and trying to predict the market months in advance is hardly a worthwhile exercise. I'm glad none of that bothers me and that this is a design I really like, so different from the clumsy dial layout of the CK2998.
