Yup, I get all that, but didn't @tyrantlizardrex already say he'd been contacted by a boutique for a quick probe?

I hear what you're saying, this is an opportunity for Omega to try and get the vintage/online brigade into their boutiques - hopefully that's how it pans out. I can just see it from the other side; loyal OB customers kicking up a stink because they spent tens of thousands in their local OB and expect to be kept in the loop and looked after for things like this, yet here they are, without a Speedy Tuesday because they all went to people on the Internet who've never spent a penny in a boutique (like me!).

I've bought straps and links, and AJTT from the OB that I talk to, they knew I was at the SpeedyTuesday event in Switzerland, they've talked to me a lot about vintage.

They gave a gentle heads up at 9am that something was coming at 11am.

Talking to them afterwards, they didn't know what it was going to be.

I think they've given up on me as a prospect for new business, because I've been very clear that they don't have anything that I want... this watch was an exception!

I think Omega have started to realize that for a heritage iconic piece such as the Speedy, a healthy vintage market with increasing Speedy valuation generates a halo effect on the standard models and all the Speedy LEs they churn out. You may not be a direct customer, but you are an active part of the Speedy story/community which generates indirect free marketing for Omega, keeping the "legend" alive馃槈

I managed to secure one on 11th after six hours of refreshing. At some point I was tired so used a chrome add on to refresh the page every 5 seconds. I managed to reach 4 different numbers and chose the one I like the most. I let the other three go like letting a fish go after you cought it. Well considering the complete process, it was fun for me and can not wait for summer to see the watch in person.

I should've thought of that. 馃檨

Congrats on securing one!

Surely OB and AD's will not have the audacity to sell reserved pieces to other people.

This is clearly a strategic marketing and sales initiative from Omega and I would be staggered if that were not EXTREMELY clear and direct about how these pieces will be sold.

By the way this is my first post on OmegaForums. Excited to be here and excited to add another Speedy to my collection (virtually flipped all pieces that aren't speedy's!).

No they won't be doing that I wouldn't be worried at all if you have one reserved, I'd imagine the only reason that fine print is there is in case of a clerical or technical error that had accidentally assigned the same number twice or something, they're definitely not going to be just re-assigning them when they're spoken for.

Best welcome post ever. I've been on the Rolex forum for 2 years with the same name and not 1 single reference. Here it takes 10 minutes. Guess I will be spending way more time here!

Just one question to all regular OB customers who missed to get one (w/o US west coast guys): Didn't you receive the email from Omega?

My OB emailed me about it Tuesday morning, but by the time I received the email they were sold out. I informed them the website said all numbers had been allocated and to try later.

Based on my conversations with the manager and assistant manager via email and texting, this was a surprise to them as much as it was to us. Stopping by OB today to say hello and see if they have any additional information.

I would recommend to register on the Omega website and create a myOmega account because I guess this customer database was the source for the invitation emails.
