Now looks like the going rate for an ST (on eBay) is £5,600. Never having wanted to flip mine, I'm glad to see that the premium is thus no greater than £1,500, and that the owners of the many currently offered at prices substantially above this will have to reconsider their position. I would hope to see asking prices further soften. I appreciate all the various arguments rehearsed about a free market etc, but as someone who genuinely wanted the watch to own - and probably pass to one of my sons - I had previously felt it a shame that others like me might have been crowded out by people mainly motivated by simple greed rather than love of an Omega product. I'm just saying . . .

HI @davy26

It is what it is..... this is the same old song that some people say...... " oh its not fair they really do not understand the history and they should not be able to buy it..."

I like what the Character Rocket said in Guardians of the Galaxy " ... But I wanted it MORE..."

is it Fair ? only two things you can get a Fair ..... " Cotton Candy and Popcorn" everything else is a free for all .....

people vote with their Money .... if the buyer or seller gets additional info by reading posts and googling ... ( by the way which is what everyone here tell newbee to do ... to learn more )..... the implied value is increased on large scale...

Nothing is " rehearsed " ... it just how markets work for better or worse...

Good Hunting

Billl

PS My rule of thumb I buy what I like . I am not a condition King/ Queen.... some say on it wont hold value... That is nice for them...

so Buy what you like and can afford...

Today was my "Speedy Tuesday", finally. I picked it up at the Zurich OB. It is a stunning watch and to finally see it in the flesh was special after having seen thousands of pictures (at least it feels like so many).

Pictures (in chronological order):

The Omega loupe, to inspect it with, was a giveaway. Furthermore they gave me a book...

I've seen them selling brand new in box on TZUK for £5,100. There are still flippers receiving(and lets face it a quick grand in the pocket for those folks is still well worthwhile) so I expect that price to drop a little further yet, wouldn't be surprised if they bottom out at around £4,600(again, £500 profit not to be sniffed at) or something before likely slowly creeping back up once all the flippers are done.

As somebody that has been in possession of mine since you could even sell to watchfinder for £6.5k I couldn't give a monkies. I'll certainly be content if the preowned price remains above retail though for peace of mind should ever I be in the position of needing to sell, money is always tight with me and if material things need to go they go.

Just for fun you should walk back in and say you've been studying the watch with the loupe they gave you and have noticed imperfections😁

TZ-UK isn't a good benchmark for pricing Omega LEs as there is a kind of bullying culture on there that shouts down any sale that is perceived to be too over the RRP. As such watches like the 60th LE and Speedy Tuesday rarely come up and instead members on there either transact behind closed doors, go to Watchfinder or list on ebay. There is more tolerance for gouging on a Rolex for some reason but the first 3 Speedy Tuesdays listed on TZ turned into a complete shambles since there is no active moderation and people were scoring political and personal points in the sales threads. As such I would not advise using prices advertised or achieved on there as truly representative of the Omega LE market. If you are a buyer, don't kid yourself you will pick one up cheap on there, one optimistic soul has a WTB on there at £4500 and unsurprisingly he is still waiting and being scoffed at in the closed threads as a chancer. If you are a seller, try somewhere else as it isn't worth the hassle or grief.

I see that the latest ST to complete on eBay has failed to sell at £5,500, which I think supports the views Tet expressed earlier regarding values further softening before bottoming-out. I also don't feel bothered as I have never contemplated selling mine, but I think some might have been expecting a stronger sellers' market based on what has happened with the Silver Snoopy.

Just had an email from my AD letting me know my ST has arrived! The downside is I am away for Christmas until after Boxing Day so it will have to wait until the end of next week.
Last Monday I was there to pick up my 60th Speedy so I cannot feel hard done by and this way it will be nearly fifty years to the day (1st January 1968) that I was given my first Speedmaster.

Is Arthur still aviable by email?

Doesn't appear to be. He never responded to my email from August 28th and all subsequent general communication that I have seen has been supposedly sent by Mr. Aeschlimann.

Never give up hope! Well, I admit I had kind of given up... I was one of the disappointed ones that couldn’t get on to the web site in time, and resigned myself to not being able to get one. I know they are somewhat readily available at $8k, but I wanted to be a ‘first owner’!

Anyway, out of the blue, my local boutique called me today and now I’m the proud owner of no. 825. I have to say, I like it a lot more on the wrist than in the pics .... but I really don’t like either strap choice so I threw it on a bracelet ...

"I appreciate that the waiting time for your #SpeedyTuesday has been longer than expected, but I'm writing to let you know that the wait is almost over. Your watch is currently finishing quality control and will leave OMEGA on December 15th. We will use express courier to have the watch delivered to your market. Thank you again for your patience and I sincerely hope this news has added an extra sparkle to your festive season."

So much for "express". It's now the 22nd and no word from the local Omega store. I have serious doubts that my sparkly new ST will be here before Christmas. I am usually a patient person but this has just been a series of disappointments after disappointments. Next thing I know someone will probably tell me that Santa isn't real.

Just received this today from the local OB, very excited for next week!

Happy Holidays everyone!

It is with much excitement that I am writing to you this morning. I’m here to congratulate you on the arrival of your Speedy Tuesday L.E. #XXX, which will be here next week! I can’t think of a better way to start a New Year than with the world’s most critically acclaimed timepiece!

I do understand that time has passed since your reservation so please let me know if your heart has changed for the procurement of this timepiece. If it has not then I will need to collect payment next week to have it sent to your address. We can also establish an appointment to have it picked up in store if that was more convenient.

Again, congratulations and I look forward to hearing from you.
