I think its one of the best looking LE's so far, all the small details add up to a distinctive and great looking Speedy.

I reserved mine and am thinking I may sell off some of my other watches to raise some funds for it 😁

So, no new reservation possibilities for the short to medium term then? How many hopefuls are still sitting in front of a keyboard refreshing a screen like lunatics to no avail? Perhaps Omega might be kind enough to put us out of our misery with some small notice of intent, like "thank you, but you can all go back to eBay now" 😗

🙄😝😝

Edit: btw, I was still getting "For the moment all numbers have been temporarily allocated, but please try again later." A few minutes ago.

Quick lessons we can learn from this today:

1.- When a LE is designed with the help of true collectors and connaiseurs (i.e. Mr. Robert-Jan Broer) it is a hit.
2.- Did you EVER imagine buying a reverse panda, applied logo, brushed cased and radial subdials speedy??? and as a LIMITED EDITION??
3.- Furthermore, apart from design, when you are a major watch brand and decide to sell online is a big step. When you decide to sell online a LE and let the people choose its unit number... this is a true customer experience.
4.- And we must wait some hours to see... watch was launched at Europe noon so our colleagues in far East were in their evenings and/or going to bed and people in West Coast and western South America were sleeping... when these guys enter in this game, I do not think this watch is going to be available for more than 24-28 hs.
5.- So THIS is truly important, apart from design, apart from horological matters, the real game here is how this have been communicated, purchased and the experience of purchasing we have had. Now I think I have reserved something very very special.

One spent more time on thinking of excuses and justifications than thinking of buying or not 😗
Did the wife accept all of the points above? 😁

It's a good way of keeping the interest going and, presumably, a way to ensure that around actual delivery time if they aren't completely sold out there's a long reserve list waiting to buy. The worst situation would be unsold stock available with a discount.

And for those that were asking earlier, UK price is £4100.00

Unsold stock is rarely discounted in luxury industry... best case dismateled and refurbished, worst case destroyed. Each brand has own guidelines.

See what your bank will charge you for £4100, it won't be AUD6746.

Yep. As I see it like that. 👍 but I see not £4100.00 on exch. but £4691 which is closer to the AUD7835 being asked in Aust. So it looks like my friend is correct when he says, that generally AUSTRALIA is more expensive. Luxury goods aren't a fixed price worldwide, they are priced according to what a particular country market will bear., it seems like that with this...maybe...I dunno, money exchange is not my strong point (sighs audibly)

👎

0% finance deals on almost every line? Vat free sales at airports inside the EU. Ever bought a Ulysse Nardin, for example, at full rrp?

There's too many luxury brands that do not protect their brand strongly enough imo, mostly they accept the commercial reality that is often over supply

Top 3 things about the #SpeedyTuesday Speedmaster:
3. comes in a handy leather watch role instead of a bulky shoe box
2. classic look combined with luminescent sub-dials
1. hand-wound movement instead of the more modern automatic one

Those of you commenting on the cost differentials need to remember a little thing we have here in the UK called Brexit. With today's depressed pound the watch is £300 cheaper in GBP than CHF but this is because they have maintained pricing from when the CK2998 was launched. At that point, the watch was priced broadly the same in USD, GBP CHF and in fact prices were historically a little higher in the UK due our 20% VAT (sales tax). I will be pleasantly surprised if they stick to the £4100 for the watch but they would have justification in marking it up at £5K or so when you compare the pre tax prices internationally. GBP may have strengthened by the summer of course, making the difference less marked.

And in devils advocate mode. Worst 3 things:

3. Comes without the extensive packaging or metal bracelet of the much cheaper standard model
2. Quirky looks based on a little known prototype, without the full lume bezel of other recent LEs
1. hand wound movement instead of a much more modern and functional automatic one such as the now discontinued 3313

Just messing with you, I love it really. Nothing there stopped me reserving one 😉

Bit of good news, I just reserved one by refreshing a couple of times (11:30 GMT).

I'm guessing a few people didn't confirm within 24 hours. Get involved if you missed out!!!

It is 3:36 in the g-ddamn morning.

That dude is not the only one with a cold; NyQuil (as with all sleep aids) just makes me sleep in strange patterns.

I have just reserved 0103/2012 !

(I think. I could be hallucinating. Have been having strange dreams about this all night. This, and oddly, Subaru WRXs)
