Omega Speedmaster Reduced with Serial (54 Range) on Lug

I recently came across a 3510.50.00 with its serial on the lug. This is seemingly very unusual as all I've seen have it on the case back or very early ones (175.0032) inside on the case back. Any information on that?

Don’t know if this is the answer, but I owned an 80s era Speedmaster at one time that had undergone a previous Omega service in the early 2000s where the mid case was replaced. It had the serial number of the lug. I just assumed it was Omega policy at the time to add the serial number to the lug of all replacement cases, even if they did not originally have them.

Do you have any idea if this was ever serviced by Omega and had the case replaced?
