Omega Speedmaster Reduced Fake or Genuine?

Hi everyone,

This is my first post as I’m also buying my first omega watch. I’ve came across this watch with is selling a bit below market value I’d say. From all the photos below can anyone help me tell if it’s a fake or genuine? The guy told me the serial number is on the inner part of the back case and is not able to open it. If I go forward I’ll have to buy through a friend because it’s in a different State, so I’d appreciate your help with this.

Thanks in advance,
Giuliano

Looks to be alright, also haven’t come across many good fakes of this model. May I ask how much ?

The low price could be due to lack of a service as these are also expensive to get serviced by independent watchmakers ( so I hear ) due to its piggyback movement. Omega will charge you the same as any other chronograph.
Hope that helps 😀

Not necessarily. The s/n on these is really small, it's possibly the Seller just overlooked it. If you are interested in getting the serial #, ask the Seller for a clear picture of this area of the caseback.

I see no red flags. Looks the same as my 1990 one only with a different case back (they changed slightly over time).

Most don’t have an external serial, only the later models.

I would definitely buy the seller. Also, you cannot know for sure without opening up the watch and looking at the movement. Many fakes are 100% real on the outside. However, this looks legit.

One more thing expect to pay below MSRP for a used watch, but if the price is too good to be true, well it is usually.

???
This watch has been discontinued for 10+ years. There is no current MSRP on the Reduced.

Go based off the most recent which you still should be paying below it.

Not sure what you mean regarding post count. However, to clarify whenever I buy a watch that is not vintage, I look at the most recent MSRP. If I can't find it I call the company and they usually will provide it. This helps me to figure out a reasonable price to pay. I have never bought an Omega new, nor will I ever. I hope this helps.

well, the watch is vintage at this point and prices have gone up quite a bit all things considered. Clearly, it’s a niche item and not in very high demand, but there is some. They are great watches from that period. Expensive to service but once done right and dialed in it’s a very reliable and accurate watch.
