Are you sure it's the right production date? IIRC they have switched caseback into circular print " Flight qualified...." by mid 1971.

Looks more like Omega Archives got it wrong (inexplicably). From their own chart, 32 mil movement = ca. 1970, which is close enough to the caseback date stamp, IMO. Maybe "production date" really means "delivery date" in this instance? Odd... but a nice Speedy!

Another 1971 Speedy with newer hippocampus logo case back is on sale in our forum. Its s/n is 32.842.XXX.
My 145.022-69 1970/1971 without hippocampus case back (1st gen) s/n is 31.619.XXX
That's why I am curious how come newer s/n could be used in previous model case back. One possible explanation, Omega did use the movement rather randomly. The other explanation, it is a service/ replacement case back.
