    Dear forum members,

I'm a collector of vintage watches, including Speedmasters and this watch comes from my personal collection. I purchased the watch from a London watch maker/ jewelry store in 2018, the watch having been serviced by an independent watch maker. I have a number of 145.022 references in my collection and am looking to sell one or two watches from across my collection, to make room for new areas of interest. I'm happy to arrange a video call to present and discuss the watch in further detail should this be of interest.

    Declaration:

    - To assess the originality and condition of parts, I am using aspects of the assessment/ condition grade structure devised and shared by Speedmaster101 (with the relevant permissions)
    - Further component detail is referenced from MOONWATCH ONLY, Revised and Expanded Edition 2017

    Key:

    Part Assessment:
    · Original
    · Correct
    · Service
    · Incorrect
    · Non-Omega

    Condition Grade:
    · Excellent
    · Very Good
    · Good
    · Fair
    · Poor

    Dial:
    · Type C3: Tall & Open S (1977-90) as should be observed on the 145022-78
    - Professional Inscription
    - Painted logo
    - Short tritium markers, not through minutes scale
    - Spaced T’s in T SWISS MADE T inscription
    · Assessment: Original
    · Condition: Excellent

The dial is an even black in colour. No blemishes or scratches are observed. All white paint is intact including typography, minutes scale and chronograph counters. The tritium lume is consistent across the dial and light yellow in colour.

    Bezel:

    · Type B2: Dot Close to 70 – Narrow C (1970/90) as should be observed on the 145022-78
    - No accent in TACHYMETRE
    - C stretched and closed
    - E with slightly shorter middle stroke
    - 7 with a serif
    · Assessment: Original
    · Condition: Very Good

Steel support with black aluminium insert. Consistent colouring throughout. Clear typography. Only very small imperfections visible in certain lighting or under loop.

    Case:

    · Case Middle
    - 42mm Asymmetrical case with 20mm lugs
    - Twisted Lugs
    - ‘CD’ manufacturer logo inside case back (Case manufacturer unknown [see MWO, unidentified makers mark])

    · Case Back
    - C4. Q Horizontal Tail (1971-83)
    - Q with horizontal tail
    - D with Serifs
    - W with high middle peak

    · Dust Cover
    - Correct and present in Excellent condition
    - Assessment: Original
    - Condition: Very good

The case is clean with sharp edges. Original outlines can be clearly seen. Possible light polish at some time based on age of watch and present condition. The case back slots are nicely square. Black paint remains in the inscription and is in very good condition, with only very partial loss of paint to 6-7 letters. The central medallion containing Speedmaster and the seahorse/ omega logo is strongly defined.

    Movement:

    · Type B2: 861 Copper – Delrin Brake (1971/87)
    - All copper bridges are of the same colour
    · Assessment: Original (with Extract of Archives)
    · Condition: Excellent (visual)

I am not a watch maker. Comments are based on the originality and visual condition of the movement. The watch was purchased in August 2018 from a London watch maker/ jeweller having been serviced. It has seen very light use and timing/ chrono functions are all in working order. Visually the movement is very clean and the experience through wear is that this keeps good time.

    Hands:
    · Type C2: Baton – Flat (1968-1997)
    - Baton hands with white paint
    - Tritium Luminescence on hours, minutes, chrono hands
    · Assessment: Correct, assumed original
    · Condition: Excellent

The hands have full paint coverage with no loss of paint at the centre.

    Pushers:
    · Wide and Tall
    - Dirt observed around pusher necks as you would expect to see
    · Assessment: Correct, assumed original
    · Condition: Excellent

    Crown:

    · Type A3: 24 – Wide (from 1970)
    - 24 Teeth
    - Logo with wide, angular feet
    · Assessment: Correct, assumed original
    · Condition: Excellent

    Crystal:
    · Type A4 – wide logo
    - Hesalite crystal
    · Assessment: Correct, assumed original
    · Condition: Very Good

    Bracelet:
    · Type 9: 1171 with 633 end links (1970 to 82)
    - Three arched links per row
    - Brushed finish
    - Smooth clasp cover
    - Number 11 on inside clasp
    - Logo in bas-relief against a trapezoid background (correct for age)
    · Assessment: Original (mentioned on Extract of the Archives)
    · Condition: Excellent

    Conclusion:

A highly original and rare variant of the Speedmaster in very good condition with Omega extract. A great opportunity to buy a very nice piece from the 1970s, an era that is becoming more and more sought after.

    - Watch as described

Thanks. Yeah I could take it outside and get a shot. My camera (and skills) makes the pics look a bit grainy which doesn't do them any favours. If you're interested in buying it i'll make it a priority... if not, I'll find some time this week. Cheers

Thanks all that looked and commented. Thanks OF for the platform. The watch is agreed sold and is going to a very nice gentleman in the UK, with a growing interest in (and collection of) vintage watches. This is his first Speedy and certain not to be the last (well, we all know how it goes, right!).
