Omega Speedmaster or Rolex Daytona.

So I know this as been done in some way or another more than 1000 times, but I want to look at it on each watches own merit. History and resale value is a large part of why people buy one of these two watches, however I want to get peoples options ( I know this is a bias omega forum) on these two watches based on quality and visual beauty ( I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder). For that reason, I want to use sapphire sandwich version because it uses modern materials that I feel would match better to a Daytona. Nothing wrong with the hesalite, but it is more geared to history, rather than materials for modern watch making. So the question is, does the Speedmaster carry quality, prestige, luxury on par or near on par with the Daytona or are they on two different level?
Speedmaster for collectors. Daytona for posers.

They've got money and good taste. I bet they have a hot wife too. 😎
Luckily I cant afford either, just a wife that loves me. (I hope) 😀

She loves you until she finds someone with a Daytona.

I just went to Japan. Saw a lot of Daytona variations at various shops--nice looking watch, but just did not give me the feeling that my Ed White or Speedy Tuesdays do.

Both Omega and Rolex are comparable, mass produced brands. There are tons of Rolex botiques, ADs, and re-sellers around the world.

The mods need a button for 4x ads. Threads like this should be paying for the site. It will get clicks for years.

Are you someone who wears an entry-level-luxury watch that that’s unfit for lawnmowing, or are you someone who wears a watch worthy of Marky Mark and the producer of world-class balsamic vinaigrettes? The moon is cold and barren and a terrible place to golf—Florida, on the other hand… To me it’s an easy choice, once you weigh the pros and cons.

But if you really want to impress people with a timepiece that exudes resale value, this is the watch you need:

Can you use a jackhammer with a Daytona?

I sure-as-shit know you can’t snorkel with one!

Yeah adding my 2c, I think as others have said, they do wear very very differently. Almost all modern sports rolex (and to be honest, basically all modern rolex overall, except for the Cellini or 1908 lines), are basically designed I think to be worn on bracelets (or factory rubber) and look the best this way.

For me the modern speedsters are still very very similar to the original from the 60s, and still do look fantastic on NATO or leather straps. Modern Daytonas though I probably wouldn't ever take off the bracelet as it's kinda designed I think as that complete package, and doesn't look great (IMO) on anything else except for the factory straps/bracelets. I think there's a reasonable argument to have both in a collection TBH!

Shots below of me trying on a yellow gold Daytona and a white gold Speedster

The Speedy is running a little slow.

I always thought the Speedy was busy, but side-by-side that Daytona has a lot going on- my eye is all over the place.

Just saw a video that reminded me of this...not sure if anyone else has noticed this, but I see more Daytonas on women than men. Seems to be very popular as a ladies watch, in particular the white dialed version. Anyone else notice this?

My wife loves my Speedmaster- steals it regularly (on an Komfit so easy to resize quickly) although she does think it’s a little slabish- I didn’t even put that in her head. Perhaps I’ll get her a reduced and then envy how well it fits.
