I’d blame delays from QA. All of those watches deviated from what was originally shown. And sometimes making those new parts to a standard can cause delays.
If there were problems identified by QA, those are manufacturing discrepancies. Hard to understand since many of the parts for all three of these watches are common with others in the existing Omega Speedmaster line. At least they are capturing the problems before the product is shipped.

Except for the new dial, new bezel, new hands, new case, new crown.

The preproductions are custom made but the production versions are mass produced. The ST1 had multiple changes from the original shown concept, so did ST2. Problems getting those new parts made to an acceptable quality is an issue.

For the Speedy Tuesday models, yes - but for the Hodinkee watch, it's just a dial-and-hands job. Same case, bezel, crown, pushers, crystal as the FOIS. Considering the changes on the ST models and how they managed to get those out (or most of the production run at least) in a fairly timely manner, this one should've been quicker IMO.

Each of these Ltd Ed and the Apollo 8 watches have a few changes from prior mass produced models. With Omega’s now huge catalog and massive production volume as well as their increasing affinity to announce these new pieces, shouldn’t they be a bit better at setting their customers’ expectations?

So Ben posted on his Instagram story that his mother received the first one. And the first batch will be going out Monday.

I wouldn't say the Apollo 8 has a "few" changes - they had to figure out how to mass-produce a whole new finish for the movement parts, and I'm sure there were some teething issues getting an 1861-based movement into the 44.25mm ceramic case. Whole new pusher and crown design too. It's a huge change from the usual order of things, and often leads to some delay in production. It's happened before with the Silver Snoopy casebacks, and the early days of the original DSOTM production as well.

Yes they should. And yet they continue to over promise, and under deliver.

I'm amazed that anyone pays them a deposit for anything. 😗

Hi all, long time lurker, first time poster. As noted a few posts earlier, Hodinkee got their first batch in last week and started shipping them out today. I'm excited to say that I apparently made it into the first batch, because I got my shipping e-mail earlier this afternoon! Delivery is scheduled for tomorrow. Can't wait! Happy to answer any questions or post photos when it arrives.

I have never ever put a deposit on anything. I did for this and the Dark Side Apollo 8. Not only have I fallen for it I did it twice 🙁
I'm kind of anticipating that we'll hit the 1 year Baselworld anniversary without Apollo 8.
Personally I'm feeling like Omega is doing too many things not well.

I am so jealous of all those folks who managed to get one. I wish I could get lucky and catch these limited editions before they sell out.

I know how important this watch is for Ben Clymer, so before going into details about this Omega Speedmaster Hodinkee 10th anniversary limited edition, allow me to address a few words to explain. 10 Years of Hodinkee Ben is a Speedmaster fan. He showed me his Speedmaster Mark40 that he received from his grandfather, and […]

Greetings, only catching up with this thread.
May I ask in all due respect: was this a promotional post ? I thought promotional posts were prohibited per forum policy?
When a poor schluck posts a link to his website where he’s peddling vintage watches the link is being removed by the mods and the poor schluck is issued a warning against the promotion of commercial interests.
For sure a Hodinkee LE would have sold out in minutes no matter what, but is this any different as a matter of principle?

Thanks and best regards,
S

Perhaps you should start a Speedmaster H10 Arrivals thread and post your photos and thoughts in it to start the discussion? That would be a super thing to do.

Here’s a photo of my Mark 40 from last month. I will gladly post photos of my H10 in your new thread if it ever arrives! I prepaid and ordered through an OB because Hodinkee was sold out by the time I got there.

QUESTION to Omega Forums members...

Does the off-center aspect of the "12" versus the omega dial logo bother anyone? It bothered me more prior, but less so now, although I'm still straddling the fence... And yes, I am one of the ones awaiting delivery at an OP.

BTW - I think the day/night aspect of the seconds subdial is a non-issue as I see that dial as mainly indicating the movement is active as one never actually measures time from it... thus, I think the black/blue contrast will indicate that more obvious, so I actually think its more useful than the standard monochrome pointer..
