Omega Speedmaster Hesalite vs 6 digit Rolex Explorer 2

I have both watches for a while now so I'll put my 2 cents...

Both are different beasts. Rolex Polar on one hand is fantastic built watch, wears a bit bigger due to the white and larger dial, ans sits very comfortable on the wrist. It's the "under the radar Rolex" since it has a white dial and Orange hand (frankly to me it looks like a Festina, which is fantastic if you don't want to show everyone that you are wearing a Rolex). Awesome case, bracelet feels great. But with 21mm lugs it's a pain to wear anything than isn't OEM bracelet. Sure you could fit a Nato or rubber, but the fit is not 100%.
If you wanna check out some shots on different straps, you can take a look here: https://omegaforums.net/threads/rolex-explorer-2-eye-candy.117477/

There is not more I can say about Speedy that hasn't been said over the years (it's a Omega forum after all). But If I would pick only one, I would go with Speedy. Taking the "investment" part out of equation, it will age better, looks perfect in every scenario (Ex2 not so) and it's got a 60 year unchanged design for a reason. But buying Ex2 Polar right now might be a good thing, since next year is 50 Anv. of Explorer, so new model is inbound. These will skyrocket in price.

Anyway, for more Speedy shots here is the htread on few straps: https://omegaforums.net/threads/omega-speedmaster-pro-eye-candy.116392/

I'll link these two, as someone stated, this thread is worthless without pics 馃榾

Both watches were shot by me and my wrist is about 7,5''

I love my EXP II, very understated and perfect size for my 7 inch wrist ;-)

Does the explorer 2 wear much bigger than the speedy?

Well yes it does, the Speedy's bezel is around 40mm, the lug to lug around 48mm.
The Ex2 is 2mm bigger in both aspects.

For my 6,75 inch wrist, I felt the Ex2 was too big.

All a matter of taste of course, since the Ex2 didn't "hang over" the wrist.

Nice pictures. And a very nice pair.
Your 7,5 inch wrist can clearly handle the Ex2 well.

I would suggest looking at a 5 digit Explorer II. IMHO it wears much better than the newer model and the proportions on the indices don't look quite right on the newer model.

Either one are good watches however the speed is not boring at all. The explo, in 5 digits, can have a tendency to become boring. This is of course only personal experiences and might differ for someone else.

I guess I am still in the "honeymoon phase" with my Speedy, but man I really love it.

Something special about a watch you have to manually wind every morning.

I own (owned) both of these watches.....I sold the Explorer II (older model 16570 ) to fund for another Rolex. In hindsight though, I should kept the Exp II as I used to wear it all the time. (my new Rolex does not get worn enough) It really was a great watch. I still have my Speedmaster which i don't think I will ever sell even though it can be replaced for another at a reasonable price. The Exp II was a great affordable entry into the Rolex brand but they are now getting expensive because of the explosion of the Rolex brand overall.

My old Exp II....

My new Rolex that I don't wear that often...
