Hey all,

I hope this is being posted in the right spot. Looking at this Omega on eBay, and looking for some thoughts from you experts before I proceed!

How does this look?

Did you compare the watch you are inquiring about with this one?

Do you see differences?

I do. Significantly cleaner!
Indeed.
On “your” piece, the bezel is full of nicks and scratches, the bracelet is significantly “looser”, the hour markers are more corroded… and above all, the mid case seems much more (over!)polished!

Now, I understand that there is a significant price difference between these two watches… but it goes back to a key lesson around here: always acquire the best condition watch possible… even if you have to wait a bit longer and save some more.

I would be happy for others to chime in…

You have it right. Chasing cheap never does anyone any good. Then you're stuck with a piece of crap that looks horrible on the wrist, can't keep time, can't be sealed properly... you know the drill. Then if you want to sell it? Can't get even what you paid for it.

You can get watches on a budget. Put some money away each month, use the goverment savings plan (zero exemptions on the W-4), pour your pocket change into a jar, and sell anything you have that you're not using. Then you can buy the watch of your dreams. In the meantime, you can buy your first mechanical, in a lower price range, for example a Seiko or Hamilton or Tissot, and learn what life is like with these tiny mechanical miracles.

You have a lot to learn. Start slow. Enjoy the process!

Watches are like everything else in life: "You get what you pay for". The trick is to actually get what you paid for 👍

You can’t have a better advice than, take your time, learn, and know what you buy.
