Hello everyone,
I recently inherited an Omega Speedmaster watch, and I would love to learn more about it. Specifically, I’m hoping to identify the exact model, year of production, and any details about the hands and other design features. I’m also curious about its approximate value.

Since this watch is a family heirloom, it carries great sentimental meaning for me, and I would be truly grateful for any insights from those who are knowledgeable about Omega.

Thank you in advance for sharing your expertise—it means a lot!

The dial photo is very poor. Try getting one in focus with good lighting.

It’s a CK2988-1,2, or 3 based on the lollipop seconds hand. But the picture isn’t clear enough to differentiate them based on subtle dial differences. Please post better photos for our experts. You can also look here for details.

The lollipop hand is desirable and not common. It’s a nice watch.

A very original, unmolested survivor!

If the caseback is original it seems the case of the watch is in very good condition

Dial and hands seem to have suffered though especially the lume on the hour markers doesn't look attractive on these pictures. Lume loss on the hands is obvious, one pusher is missing

What are your plans for the watch?

Back in the drawer?

Selling?

Restoration?

Let us know and we will try to give you some hints.

All the best!

I am strongly thinking of selling and thank you so much for your time, knowledge and hints. So far I know, every part is original. It was a special gift from very special person he got while seiling and he wore It proudly most of his life time.

If you intend to sell, then don’t bother fixing or repairing it (other than perhaps using some polywatch to try to remove scratches on the crystal). I would, however, have the case opened and take a picture of the movement and inner caseback. If you aren’t comfortable with this, then find a local watchmaker to do it for a small fee. Because of the damage to the dial and hands, I’m concerned there has been water intrusion and there may be damage to the movement. It’s best to disclose this fully when selling.

Sorry to ask this, but how can it have great sentimental value, then in the next post you say you’re strongly thinking of selling?

Yep, great sentimental value, how much can I get for it? :eye roll:

And BTW, I don’t know exactly what it is, but every part is original.

The back door sales posts are so tiresome. Hopefully it’s not a total scam.
