·Available for sale is my Omega Speedmaster Day-Date MK40 reference 3820.53.26 “Schumacher”.
This is the same reference gifted to Ben Clymer, the founder of Hodinkee, by his Grandfather, and was the inspiration for their 10-year anniversary LE Speedmaster.
For a 20+ year old watch, it is in tremendous condition. Free of any major dings, dents or blemishes, the factory finishes are fully intact and clearly observable.
The only case mark of note is a small nick on the northeast lug along with some light strap changing marks on the underside of the lugs. I’ve done my best to capture both in the photos below.
This example is a 55MM serial which ages it to ~1997. The grey dial is perfect and in untouched condition, while the numerals have aged to a wonderfully warm “pumpkin” patina with no cracking, chipping or flaking.
Mechanically, all complications and functions are operating perfectly and it is keeping fantastic time at approximately +2.5 seconds per day.
While the service history is unknown, it’s been assessed by my watchmaker, it’s clean as a whistle, won't require servicing for at least a year and successfully passed 3 bars of pressure testing (per spec).
Specifications
Never polished! All factory finishes are apparent, with crisp edges between all of the mirrored and brushed surfaces.
Crystal is scratch free, clear of any defects and the bezel is blemish free.
Above is the northeast lug and the one case mark that's noticeable without magnification (magnified to highlight).
Modest strap changing marks on the underside of the lug, virtually unnoticeable, but magnified here to highlight.
I am asking REDUCED $2850 USD OBRO.
Payment terms are Paypal F&F or bank wire for the asking price, Paypal G&S is accepted but the buyer covers fees. I will ship to any CONUS address at my expense, all other destinations at cost.
