Omega Speedmaster Apollo 15 35th anniversary. Why has it lagged in popularity?

I like it alot. Front and back. Apollo 15 was important, it was the first all up science mission, but creating a special edition for it was just kinda "meh" to me.

I am looking for one in good condition my self.

Concerning the lag in popularity, here is what I can think of, might be that two tone generally seems less appreciated for watches in general, gold on a speedmaster might not appeal for those that consider it is a tool watch, Apollo 15 is a less known about mission. A bald decade anniversary?
On my side I like the watch, its aesthetics and the mission concerned. Gold or at least fold color mixed with steel, definitely looks moon related aesthetically to me. Apollo 15 mission was one of the most important missions that went to the moon.

My opinion is made, I am in search of one. If someone knows where I can find one in good condition for a reasonable price, I am interested. (Thank you)

I would be in love with the watch if all the gold parts were silver. I think their is a large demographic that doesn't care for gold.

Especially on a tool watch. I've never seen a two tone Black & Decker drill or Craftsman wrench.

Two tone watches scream 80's to some people, which isn't a good thing in their eyes. I'm not in that camp, and if I was forced to wear a Speedy at gunpoint this would be one of only a few I'd choose. The other would be the blue dial & bezel LE, and maybe another would be the TV dial cushion case version from the 70's.

Not enough Gold to be considered Bling. Too much Gold to suffer the attrition rate of watches not marketed from jump as collectors items. Very few will be lost to lawnmower accidents or forgetting to leave it in the house when changing out a fan belt. Without Bling attraction fewer will end up in police property rooms next to the owner's crack stash.

Give it time, when there are fewer to be found in working condition the prices will climb.

I like it, it’s subtly different and I can see it going up in value as there’s not many around

It has a few nicks and no box but I am fond of it already.
