Just got word from Omega Boutique in Beverly Hills - the bracelet will be available, maybe by EOY.
Yes, attached to an Apollo 11 50th Anniversary LE Speedmaster. I asked Jean-Claude Monachon this afternoon if Omega plans to sell the bracelets separately. The answer was, yes if you have already purchased the 50th LE and maybe want a spare, but no if you just want the bracelet.

They have tightened up since the 1957 LE trilogy then. The similar looking 19mm bracelet on those is available to anyone who slaps down the required $750 I believe.

There is a countdown on Omega’s website
https://www.omegawatches.com/watches/speedmaster/moonwatch/professional/product
Don’t you think there will be other release ?
Like an update of the standard speed master professional.

Jean Claude Monanchon today answered very clearly and directly that the standard Speedmaster Pro will be replaced for 2020 with a 3861 version and a new bracelet, which will not be the 50th anniversary bracelet.

As it should be to those forking out for the 50th

I think that I will follow Archer’s advice and get 1861 to go with my FOIS. Then start looking for a nice vintage piece.

Is this documented somewhere?

How long will the standard Speedy with 1861 be available for? Was planning on purchasing one this year.

At least until it is officially announced by Omega, most likely next March. And then there will be many in the pipeline and in dealer stocks. You have at least a year, imo, to get one from a dealer.

Sounds good. Thank you. I will have one by fall of this year.

I don't think 50th buyers would (or rather should) suffer from somebody else being able to buy the bracelet separately, at least if it's sold at a similar price point. Why would it be detrimental to their own enjoyment of the watch? Especially considering it's just the bracelet. It's probably different with the 2020 Olympics watches, where previous LEs were copied entirely.

You might as well allow the subdial ass to be sold seperatly swap that out on another speedy, maybe the caseback too?

Because for some it's all about the money...

We were standing in a group of people handling the 50th LE, with him in front of us and answering questions. So several people heard the same, but it’s not on record anywhere AFAIK... so „no“.

He did not comment on that, but he used the word „replaced“. So to my understanding, it might vanish from the catalog as soon as the new one starts selling.

This thread is going slightly off topic, but as it concerns the movement launched in the Apollo 11 50th LE, I hope you'll forgive me...

Time will tell (and produce the documentation), all I can confirm is that this is indeed what has been said.

A few other hints have been made towards replacing the 1861 too. Including a clear statement made on the 3861 in the new gold Speedy as being the way to make the Speedmaster METAS compliant in line with an earlier voiced ambition to make all of Omegas new watches up to that standard.

Based on that, I think we can safely conclude that:
1. A standard Speedy with the 3861 movement is imminent and
2. That it is likely that it will not complement, but replace the 1861 powered Speedmasters in future.

I would to agree with this. I cannot see the logic of producing the 321,1861 and 3861 - too much crossover. Again a change to 3861 would allow the price point to be increased. On previous LE’s there was an approximate £1,500 loading over the standard moonwatch. Following that logic, would the price of a ‘standard’ 3861 moonwatch would be in the order of £5k. This would bring the moonwatch to the same price point as Breitling.
Just my thoughts.

Yes, I heard that too

and it was repeated during lunch (a rather delicious steak I might add) as Mr Monachon was sat directly opposite me....although my questions were mainly about the past and future of the Globemaster. I no longer have any illusions that there might be a GMT version one day.
