It is exactly the same except in place of yellow stitches it is red.

Apollo 8 is leather, this is rubber.

the Apollo 8 strap is leather as the new model consist of a similar aesthetic but is rubber.

the apollo 8 is a leather rubber hybrid. is this pure rubber?
It looks the same as the Apollo 8 - i.e. leather sandwiching rubber.

Edit - whilst at least one site describes it as leather and rubber, Omega's own site says black rubber and red rubber insert.

yeah the Apollo just has the rubber within the interior for comfort, but seems the construction is all rubber, here is the ref. 032CVZ013918 just wanted to post that in case anyone needs it for the future

Its like they just rushed this out withour thinking it through properly "a racing moon watch on a yacht in sea."
I'm feeling a little sea sick!
Sea of Tranquility perhaps ? ::rimshot::

Nice looking watch and would keep it if I was given one but I won't be buying it.

I like this very much. However, 44mm is far too big for me. The other thing is that it would strange to buy something whichever’s to another brand without having anything with that other brand.

Pretty watch! Reminds me of Connect 4 chips when placed next to Apollo 8 but that’s just how my brain works. Not quite sure how it came about that a Speedmaster was picked ahead of a Seamaster chrono for a yacht race but maybe that line’s become a bit tired... you can get the ceramic ETNZ Seamasters at a hefty discount these days.

Omega's website states that the Apollo 8 strap is leather and that the Alinghi is rubber.

It is rubber but very comfortable to wear. Would be nice though if they added a deployant clasp option at some stage.

So, the subdial at 6 o'clock which is half hours if I recall correctly, will just be an occasionally moving logo? That sounds kind of silly. How do I know how much time has elapsed?

I had a DSOTM Apollo 8 which aside from being DOA (they fixed it) was a beautiful watch and I thought it was really cool. Unfortunately, that "really cool" factor overrode my common sense, as it is just too big for my svelte waif-like wrists. And so now it is gone.

There's a small white triangle on top of the logo to indicate the position.

Thanks. It must be covered up by the hands in the image above.

Yes, the dials were not in an ideal position when I took the pic 😀 Can be seen more clearly on some of the press pics.

+1 on the deployant clasp, but since one hasn't turned up for the Apollo 8 ...

It‘s rubber and should be nicely waterproof. Does look like leather though. Will see if it retains the nice matte look when used.
Ok thx for your reply. As you said we will see

Not so, you can buy a black Omega ceramic DP clasp and an Omega replacement strap designed for the DP buckle.

What I meant was deployant clasp with the same strap design that came with the watch originally. The OB told me this year that was not possible, and it's the second time I've asked. Although, frankly, reading about people chipping the ceramic when changing the strap, it's become a lot less attractive.

Edit - thanks to your post, I've been doing some googling, and wondering if what I've been told by the OB is in fact complete rubbish - wouldn't be the first time they've given me incorrect information in there, but I did think after asking different people twice I would have flushed this out ...

Robert-Jan, you may want to change the title of the thread, it’s not LE 😉
