Omega Speedmaster 3590.50.00 - Not sure if I did the right thing!

Well Folks!
Just ended an auction where there was a Speedy 3590.50, from 1993.
It was in a used condition, but look kind of nice for a daily watch.😀

Nice lumeplots, hands were scratched (sadly🙁), and the case hade marks and dents, caseback as well..
The bracelet is a 1479/812.

The one thing that made me not go further (I did bid during the auction), was the pictures I received from
the excellent curator regarding the dial.

There were som marks (High-lighted), and the right one is the one that bothered me, the left on might not be anything...

I stopped at 3550 € ink premium, and the winning bid was at the next level at 3750€.
So to beat that I had to go to 4000€, and the winning bider pounced directly on my bid - so you never know how this would have ended!

So Guys - did I do Right or Wrong??
I do know there are lots of 90:s Speedys out there..🤔

You didn’t win the auction, so the question is moot. All that matters is how you feel about your decision.

I sold a 3590.50 last year for $5,300 USD, but it was as close to mint as you can get without it being new.

Tried to find your sale on that one, went back to August (maaaan - you post a lot..😁), but I could not find it...
But I do believe you, and I found other nice ones before with a nice price tag here on the forum.

So maybe these will come by again?

And what do you think of the dial??👎

I had it listed on C24 and the market was still pretty hot for neo-vintage Speedmasters in top condition at the time. Still, the watch sat for 3 months before it sold. I think that you did the right thing here. Not a pristine example by any means and the 3590.50 is not rare. Plenty of good examples for sale.

Yepp....

My thoughts as well, but I sometimes need help from "seniors" here regarding my do´s and don't´s!

Thanks mate!

Happy to help! Look to the Japanese market for good examples of this reference at reasonable prices due to the weakness of the Yen. Just make sure that the bracelet will fit you or that it comes with extra links.

This just sold here for $4800USD which is $4480EUR. https://omegaforums.net/threads/omega-3861-speedmaster-sapphire-sandwich.155919/

I'm assuming you don't want a new SuperLuminova watch but my point is you can probably do better. I think you made the right call pulling the plug. Always enjoy your Speedy hunting posts!

Thanks for those nice words!

May I connect you to my wife so she really really understands how important this is?? 😜

I think you were right not to go any higher with this one. There are quite a lot of very attractive looking Speedies in this age range, but imo, this isn’t one of them.

I don't think a few hundred dollars will really matter in the long run and 4000 wouldn't have been a crazy price. But if you didn't like the watch enough to bid more, then you made the right decision for you. It's not like this is a rare reference, there will be plenty more.

I believe we should not worry about the approval of others regarding price of a watch ( or anything else). Totally personal if you love it go for it! I have never regretted making such a purchase, even when I have overpaid.

The 3590.50 is a great model and definitely worth pursuing. But there are better examples out there, and you should have access to a good number of options with a budget of 4k EUR.

Hmmm....My wife never approves my choices..
regarding anything...😒
And even though the watch i look at feels like a ship wreck, I always seem to find something nice and lovely about it!
