Sometimes you really have to Wonder....... Matthew Bain is a well known Dealer. Describing this as :....... someone has polished the case to make it look shorter........ is rather deceiving. not sure what is happening here; might even not be a 2998 Case ? have a look and comment, pls. kind regards. achim https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/312740366652?ul_noapp=truePurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
Agreed on both counts. Ends have been angled in, and to my novice eyes, that looks like a 105.003-65 case. YMMV. Also, those hands... Edit : "Dial: Original dial in beautiful condition that we believe to have been relumed, hands are original, please see pictures" -> only hands that belong to this family of watches are the subregisters.
I'm not sure this sweep second hand (tear drop) comes from a Speedmaster... Its edges look way too sharp.
I'm shurley no expert but when I saw it yeasterday I was surprised about this offer from a -as stated here before- well know dealer Not only the brutally treated case, hands are too short, wrong crwon, bezel...
Nomenclature for vintage watches - case polished to look shorter: damaged case - tropical dial: damaged dial - ghost bezel: damaged bezel - patina on dial: damaged dial Feel free to add more.
Skeleton hands- missing lume Professionally restored dial -repaint Professionally polished -ground down to a nub New crystal (not spec’d Factory) - $4 generic crystal Not tested for accuracy (found at a flea market) Shows beautiful even patina- parts watch
Optimistic as I am; the case back looks pretty good. Given the state of the rest of this watch, I would have expected it to be full of scratches instead of a clearly visible sea monster.
She's not very attractive, and she's kind of heavy set in a non-shapley kind of way, and she doesn't have much of a sense of humor and doesn't have anything interesting to add to conversation....but she has a nice pair of jeans and the back of her right hand takes a tan well.
Or Not tested for accuracy (opened and inspected prior to sales, deemed in need of immediate service)
Can anyone read the movement number? Can't confirm the 2nd & 3rd digits but looks to me 19.88x, that's late for a 2998.5

Haha, @Dan S you might have let the cat out of the bag on that one...but yes, hard to tell which one is more aggregious
