Merry Christmas hans
I love reading about “your finds”. Especially when something flies under the radar but get fixed up to be a nice example.

Yup, very nice. Amazing to drive, tricky but very, very impressive. I'm afraid that unlike the watch, that yellowish thing isn't mine though.

That is a 76?
It’s early one they can have same dial as 74 before started with long S. (according to my friend MWO) Is this correct @Foo2rama ?

Yes and by early you mean before September of 1977 😉

Trying so sum this up...😅
Ref 74 can have a stepped dial (with short S), and a domed dial (also with short S)
Ref 76 and 78 have domed dials

Ref 74 and 76 have short S
Ref 78 can only have tall S

And to make it even worse...
after the 78 reference, they stopped stamping the caseback with the reference "year",
and only had 145022, with the casemaker stamp C.R.S.
But the dial - is it flat now?
I have looked at a lot of pictures, but really hard to see?
It has the tall S...

And I have seen that beginning from the C.R.S case, the caseback has different D´s and W´s (I think it is mentioned in the MWO book).
The 71, 74, 76 and 78 have rounder D´s and the middle section of the W is taller.

I need to use my brain again after all the Christmas food and drinks...😁

I think what I have learned from @Foo2rama (and MWO) is that 76 early ones (before Sept 77) have short S (as shown in @Makesbelieve watch), and after that later model 76 have tall S (as in your auction post).
